The vowels are marked in this bible and are designed to help avoid confusion on what a word is and how it is pronounced, as if there is not already enough of that in the interpretations globally. In modern spoken Hebrew, only children need the niqqud until they have the pronunciation memorized. Here is a short reading of the first words in Genesis. Look for the consonant and a vowel below it, read the next consonant to see if there is a vowel (markings) under it or over it. Letters with a dot at the top left are pronounced consonant first then the "O" sound (as in to 'owe' somebody money) as in Elohim. The lamed has a dot near the top left. * Vowels are usually found under the letter * Sometimes the "O" sound is above the letter My next Dtube post will feature a surprise guest reader.
