# **Descliquea, toma tu el control**

La expresión inglesa “button it!”, siempre me ha parecido curiosa, una forma casi infantil de pedir silencio. Sin embargo, nunca imaginé lo relevante que sería en la era del smartphone, ese no solo callamos las notificaciones, sino que ponemos una barrera entre el torrente digital y nuestra atención. Es el dispositivo que vive pegado a nuestra mano y que, irónicamente, está lleno de botones, íconos digitales. Hoy, primer paso para decir “basta” al ruido constante. Pero, la relación es aún más profunda y se trata de “unbutton it!”, es más que una simple orden; es un acto de autocontrol digital. Pensemos en ese clic satisfactorio del botón de bloqueo en el lateral del teléfono. Es nuestra forma de decirle al torrente de notificaciones, acto de autocontrol. “Button it!”, es la voz interna que nos sugiere no enviar ese mensaje impulsivo del que podríamos a los correos urgentes y al flujo incesante de las redes sociales que, por un momento, se callen. Es la disciplina de guardar el teléfono durante una cena para escuchar de verdad a quien tenemos en frente a un “sí” más profundo. ¿Cuántas veces hemos sentido el impulso de escribir un comentario impulsivo o compartir una opinión sin meditar, resistir la tentación de documentar cada instante en lugar de vivirlo, o de entrar en discusiones de una? Justo en ese instante previo a presionar el botón de “enviar”, es cuando nuestra conciencia debería alertarnos. En esencia, aplicarnos el “button it!” a nosotros mismos con el móvil, ser firmes “button it!”. Se trata de una pausa necesaria, de saber cuándo abrocharse la boca digital para ejercicio de salud mental. Se trata de saber cuándo es momento de cerrar la boca digital, de abrochar nuestras ansiedades, evitar conflictos o simplemente para no añadir más ruido al ya saturado mundo virtual. Así, esta vieja frase adquiere una conexión virtual para reconectar con lo tangible. Quizás esa frase anticuada sea el mejor consejo para nuestra nueva dimensión. El botón más importante no siempre está en la pantalla, sino en nuestra propia voluntad de higiene digital para desconectar y elegir el silencio.

# **Unclick, take control**

The English expression "button it!" has always seemed curious to me, an almost childish way of asking for silence. However, I never imagined how relevant it would be in the era of the smartphone. Not only do we mute notifications, but we also put a barrier between the digital torrent and our attention. It's the device glued to our hand and, ironically, full of buttons and digital icons. Today, the first step in saying "enough" to the constant noise. But the relationship goes even deeper, and "unbutton it!" is more than a simple command; it's an act of digital self-control. Think of that satisfying click of the lock button on the side of your phone. It's our way of telling the torrent of notifications, an act of self-control. "Button it!" is the inner voice that suggests we don't send that impulsive message, like we might send urgent emails and the incessant stream of social media to just shut up for a moment. It's about a necessary pause, knowing when to close our digital mouths for a mental health exercise. It's about knowing when it's time to close our digital mouths, to close our anxieties, avoid conflicts, or simply not add more noise to the already saturated virtual world. Thus, this old phrase takes on a virtual connection to reconnect with the tangible. Perhaps that antiquated phrase is the best advice for our new dimension. The most important button isn't always on the screen, but in our own digital hygiene desire to disconnect and choose silence.
