Aller guten Dinge sind drei. Das dachten sich auch die Einwohner von Naumburg! Nach 2015 und 2017 wurden sie endlich erhört und ihr Dom wurde in das Unesco-Weltkulturerbe aufgenommen. Der Naumburger Dom St. Peter und Paul zählt zu den bedeutenden deutschen Kathedralbauten des Hochmittelalters.

Er ist ein Beispiel für die Baukunst der späten Romanik und der frühen Gotik. Der Dom ist zugleich mit seinen vier Türmen das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Naumburg. Für alle die es nicht territorial einordnen können: Naumburg liegt an der Saale, im Süden Sachsen-Anhalts nahe der Unstrut-Mündung gelegen.

All good things come in threes. That's what the inhabitants of Naumburg thought! After 2015 and 2017, they were finally heard and their cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Naumburg Cathedral St. Peter and Paul is one of the major German cathedral buildings of the High Middle Ages.

He is an example of the architecture of the late Romanesque and early Gothic. The cathedral is at the same time with its four towers the landmark of the city Naumburg. For those who can not place it territorially: Naumburg is located on the Saale, in the south of Saxony-Anhalt near the Unstrut estuary.

Aber nun zurück zum Dom. Dieser stammt größtenteils aus der ersten Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts. Die berühmten Stifterfiguren aus der Werkstatt eines Naumburger Meisters sind Beispiele frühgotischer Steinmetzkunst.

Die aus Sandstein gefertigten zwölf Figuren gehören zu den bedeutendsten Skulpturen des Mittelalters, darunter die berühmten Figuren von Markgraf Ekkehard II. und seiner Gemahlin Uta.

Die Stifterfigur der Markgräfin Uta zählt als die Populärste unter allen zwölf im Naumburger Dom. Leider gibt es nicht viel über diese Dame zu berichten aber im 20. Jahrhundert erlangte sie wahre Popularität durch den Fotograf Walter Hege. Er fotografierte als einer der Ersten in den 20er Jahren den Dom von Innen. Er machte keinen Hehl daraus, dass er Uta schön fand und so fungierte diese Stifterfigur ab diesem Zeitpunkt bis weit in die 30er Jahre als Ideal der deutschen Frau.

But now back to the cathedral. This comes mostly from the first half of the 13th century. The famous donor figures from the workshop of a Naumburg master are examples of early Gothic stonemasonry. The twelve figures made of sandstone are among the most important sculptures of the Middle Ages, including the famous figures of Margrave Ekkehard II and his wife Uta.

The donor figure of the Margravine Uta counts as the most popular of all twelve in Naumburg Cathedral. Unfortunately there is not much to report about this lady but in the 20th century she gained true popularity through the photographer Walter Hege. He photographed as one of the first in the 20's the cathedral from inside. He made no secret of the fact that he found Uta beautiful and so acted from this point until well into the 30s, this donor figure as the ideal of the German woman.

Aber im Dom gibt es nicht nur die Uta zu bestaunen. Nein weitaus viel mehr. Mit der ältesten Steinskulptur der Heiligen Elisabeth von Thüringen (1207-1231), den von Neo Rauch im Jahr 2007 gestalteten Fenstern mit Szenen aus dem Leben der Heiligen Elisabeth und den aus der Werkstatt von Lucas Cranach stammenden Altarflügeln befinden sich weitere kostbare Kunstschätze im Dom und im Domschatzgewölbe.

Im Jahre 1542 fand die Amtseinsetzung des weltweit ersten evangelischen Bischofs, Nikolaus von Amsdorf, statt. Die Weihe wurde von Martin Luther (1483-1546) persönlich vollzogen. Eine Figur von ihm ist heute noch an der Kanzel zu sehen.

Ein weiteres Highlight in der Stadt Naumburg ist die weltberühmte Hildebrandtorgel von 1746 in der St. Wenzel Kirche. Von ihr geht ein Klang aus, den man nie wieder vergißt. Wenn die Temperaturen es zulassen, werden die Türen der Kirche offen gelassen. Somit können alle, die im inneren der Kirche keinen Platz mehr gefundenen haben, draußen die Herrlichkeit dieses Musikerlebnisses vernehmen. Und diese Orgel übertrifft nicht nur an der Zahl sondern auch an der Vielfalt der Register alle Silbermannorgeln. Wenn man die Möglichkeit hat, sollte man das auf jeden Fall nicht verpassen!

Aber ebenso sehenswert ist die Altstadt mit ihren vielen Gassen und den kleinen Kunstwerke hier und da!
**Ein absolutes Muß ist eine Fahrt ins vorherige Jahrhundert. Die Straßenbahn vom Typ T57 von 1959 zuckelt auf einem Teilstück der ringförmigen Strecke - genannt auch Wilde Zicke durch Naumburg.**

But in the cathedral, there is not only the Uta to admire. No, much more. With the oldest stone sculpture of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia (1207-1231), the windows designed by Neo Rauch in 2007 with scenes from the life of St. Elizabeth and the altar wings from the workshop of Lucas Cranach, there are further precious art treasures in the cathedral and in the cathedral treasury vault.

In 1542, the inauguration of the world's first Protestant bishop, Nikolaus von Amsdorf, took place. The consecration was performed personally by Martin Luther (1483-1546). A figure of him can still be seen at the pulpit today.

Another highlight in the city of Naumburg is the world-famous Hildebrandt organ from 1746 in the St. Wenceslas Church. From her emanates a sound that you will never forget again. When temperatures permit, the doors of the church are left open. Thus, those who have found no room inside the church can hear the glory of this musical experience outside. And this organ surpasses not only the number but also the variety of registers all Silbermann organs. An absolute highlight and a must if you visit Naumburg.

But also worth seeing is the old town with its many streets and the small works of art here and there!

Ebenso weit über die Bundeslandgrenzen hinaus ist diese Region Saale-Unstrut natürlich für seine guten Weine bekannt. Daher stand auch ein Besuch in der Wein- und Sektmanufaktur Naumburg auf unserer Liste.

Im Blütengrund erwartete uns nicht nur zauberhaftes Wetter sondern auch eine informative und sehenswerte Führung. Gestartet sind wir im hauseigenen Weinberg in ca. 500 m Entfernung. Ganz oben auf dem Hügel hatten wir einen bezaubernden Blick in das Umland. Danach ging es ab in den Weinkeller. Es war kaum zu glauben, dass diese Gegend fast 100 Jahre ohne Weinanbau auskommen musste. Die Reblaus machte Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts alles zunichte.

Erst 2002 wurde diese Manufaktur gegründet und das alte Gelände wiederbelebt. Herzstück ist das im Jahr 1856 erbaute Hauptgebäude.

An vielen Fässern und Flaschen ging es durch die romantisch beleuchteten Gänge des Kellers; und von einem Glas Wein zum nächsten. Aber Zurückhaltung war angesagt, denn es stand noch ein fulminater Abend mit leckerem Essen, vielen Weinen und Sekten bis zum Abwinken vor uns. Im Kellergewölbe wartete nicht nur das schmackhaft angerichtete Buffet, sondern auch ein Deejay mit Musik jedes Genres! Der Wein und Sekt floss in Massen und die Tanzbeinchen wurden immer geschmeidiger. Nicht nur die Führung hatte es in sich :-).

**Just as far beyond the federal state borders, this region Saale-Unstrut is of course known for its good wines. Therefore, a visit to The wine and sparkling wine factory Naumburg was on our list.**

In the bloom reason not only enchanted weather expected us but also an informative and worth seeing guidance. We started in our own vineyard about 500 meters away. At the top of the hill we had a charming view of the surrounding countryside. Then it went off to the wine cellar. It was hard to believe that this area had to live without wine for almost 100 years. The phylloxera destroyed everything at the beginning of the 20th century.

Only in 2002, this factory was founded and revived the old site. The centerpiece is the main building, built in 1856.

Many barrels and bottles passed through the romantically lit corridors of the cellar; and from one glass of wine to the next. But restraint was announced, because there was still a fulminater evening with delicious food, many wines and sects to the point before us.

In the cellar vault was waiting not only the tastefully arranged buffet, but also a Deejay with music of every genre! The wine and sparkling wine flowed in masses and the dancing legs became more and more supple. Not only the guide had it in itself :-).
