Las sorpresas matizan nuestra vida con emociones inesperadas, que nos sacan de la rutina y nos regalan novedades con las emociones correspondientes.

Hay sorpresas que cambian la vida.

He recibido muchas sorpresas en mi vida, algunas pequeñitas, otras gigantes, unas felices, otras desafortunadas, pero todas se inician con un hecho inesperado que nos hace brincar el corazón y desata otras emociones en forma espontánea.

Las emociones desatadas por una sorpresa dependen del tenor de la misma y oscilan desde el terror hasta la alegría. Puedo decir que la mayoría de las sorpresas que recuerdo, han sido gratas, pero también las ha habido ingratas.

Muchas veces recibí una grata sorpresa el día de mi cumpleaños, cuando la familia y los amigos se hacían cómplices para celebrarlo con un fiesta. Unas veces lo sospechaba, otras no. Lo cierto es que la incertidumbre, daba a la sorpresa mayor emoción cuando se develaba. También yo patrociné, más de una vez, fiestas sorpresas para otros.

La primera reacción a la sorpresa es una especie de "conmoción" o "parálisis", ante el hecho sorprendente, que se visualiza en el rostro de quien recibe la sorpresa. Yo siento que entreabro un poco la boca, como si tomara aire; también abro los ojos más de lo normal. Y esto lo he observado en casi todas las personas como reacción inmediata ante una verdadera sorpresa. Claro, hay sorpresas y sorpresas. Y hay variables según las características de los sorprendidos.

Asumido el hecho de que una sorpresa es un impacto, es importante considerar cómo y a quién dar una sorpresa. Las que llegan solas, simplemente llegan y hay que aceptar su llegada, sea una buena o una mala, pero en las que preparamos debemos ser cautelosos para evitar ser nosotros los sorprendidos por un mal momento.

Obviamente, la llegada de unos mariachis en un aniversario de boda o cualquier otra celebración trae con la sorpresa la alegría, pues los vemos y escuchamos. Recuerdo el aniversario número cincuenta del matrimonio de mis padres, les llevamos un grupo de mariachis y en verdad, fue una hermosa sorpresa para ellos y alegría para todos los presentes. Con este tipo de sorpresas, los aplausos y las risas brotan solos, pero una mala noticia o una novedad que mueve fuertemente las emociones es otra cosa, como se indicó en el párrafo anterior.

También de una mala sorpresa tengo un recuerdo personal: casi me desmayé, cuando el médico que veía a mi hijo menor nos dijo en forma abrupta el diagnóstico para el niño. Y lo peor del caso, el niño estaba presente y con sus doce años recién cumplidos me dio una gran lección de entereza, encajando la mala noticia con un " Y qué se puede hacer doctor?" Con esa pregunta, el médico rodeado de pasantes, se dio cuenta de su imprudencia y trató de arreglar el entuerto.

Afortunadamente, para todos, el diagnóstico fue tan imprudente como equivocado. Estudios posteriores demostraron que la interpretación de las imágenes había sido errónea y, gracias a Dios, el niño creció con toda normalidad, sin necesidad de intervenciones quirúrgicas que lo mantendrían inmóvil por lo menos seis meses.

Con los años y el proceso de maduración, vamos perdiendo capacidad de asombro, porque según crecemos y sumamos experiencias y, debido a la capacidad de asociación, casi podemos adivinar algunos comportamientos sociales y/o individuales.

Además el mundo en el que vivimos nos va mostrando poco a poco sus secretos. Escuchamos el trueno después del relámpago; vemos llegar y deshacerse las olas y mojar nuestros pies en la arena; vemos encenderse las lucecitas de Navidad que tenemos apagadas en nuestras manos y cosas como éstas, nos causaron asombro en su momento, en nuestra adultez, esperamos que sucedan y si no sucediese, realmente nos sorprenderíamos.

Estar dispuestos a descubrir el mundo y tener dispuestos nuestros enlaces con el mundo exterior, nos permite abordar nuestro entorno como niños exploradores dispuestos a encontrar y registrar nuevos hallazgos, atesorando los que entonen con nuestros sueños y personalidad.

Todas las sorpresas producen algún tipo de cambio en las rutinas, la mayoría por instantes, otras de por vida porque traen situaciones condiciones que van más allá del momento. El año 2020, nos sorprendió a muchos (otros sabían que era lo que se estaba cocinando) con la innombrable pandemia y sus consecuencias.

El año 2021, me regaló una de estas significativas novedades que cambian la vida. Gracias a Dios y a nuestros hijos, mi esposo pudo venir a España. Pero mantuvieron su venida en secreto para sorprenderme, ¡y lo hicieron! Ya para mi era un hecho que pasaríamos otras Navidades separados y un par de días antes de su llegada, me la noticia. Por supuesto que me sorprendí y mucho. Recibí la noticia y no sabía que decir, fui reaccionando poco a poco, hasta asimilar la gran noticia.

Y de sorpresa en sorpresa, el 24 de diciembre, desde de la ventana, vi llegar a mi hijo menor con su esposa. Fue la gran maravilla. La familia reunida, por primera vez en casi tres años. Sorpresas felices, así como éstas, son un gran motor para seguir viviendo con felicidad y tener siempre la esperanza de que lo inesperado puede llegar.

There are surprises that change lives.

I have received many surprises in my life, some small, some gigantic, some happy, others unfortunate, but they all start with an unexpected event that makes our hearts jump and unleashes other emotions spontaneously.

The emotions triggered by a surprise depend on its tenor and range from terror to joy. I can say that most of the surprises I remember have been pleasant, but there have also been unpleasant ones.

Many times I received a pleasant surprise on my birthday, when family and friends joined forces to celebrate it with a party. Sometimes he suspected it, sometimes he didn't. The truth is that uncertainty gave surprise greater emotion when it was revealed. I also sponsored, more than once, surprise parties for others.

The first reaction to surprise is a kind of "shock" or "paralysis" at the surprising fact, which is displayed on the face of the person who receives the surprise. I feel that I open my mouth a little, as if I were taking a breath; I also open my eyes more than usual. And I have observed this in almost all people as an immediate reaction to a real surprise. Sure, there are surprises and surprises. And there are variables according to the characteristics of those surprised.

Given the fact that a surprise is a shock, it is important to consider how and to whom to give a surprise. Those that arrive alone simply arrive and you have to accept their arrival, be it a good one or a bad one, but in those that we prepare we must be cautious to avoid being surprised by a bad moment.

Obviously, the arrival of some mariachis on a wedding anniversary or any other celebration brings joy with surprise, as we see and hear them. I remember the fiftieth anniversary of my parents' marriage, we brought them a group of mariachis and it was truly a beautiful surprise for them and joy for everyone present. With these types of surprises, applause and laughter spring up on their own, but bad news or a novelty that strongly moves emotions is something else, as indicated in the previous paragraph.

I also have a personal memory of a bad surprise: I almost fainted, when the doctor who was seeing my youngest son abruptly told us the diagnosis for the boy. And the worst of the case, the boy was present and with his just turned twelve years old he gave me a great lesson in integrity, fitting the bad news with a "And what can you do doctor?" With that question, the doctor, surrounded by interns, realized his imprudence and tried to fix the mess.

Fortunately, for everyone , the diagnosis was as reckless as wrong. Later studies showed that the interpretation of the images had been wrong and, thank God, the child grew normally, without the need for surgical interventions that would keep him immobile for at least six months.

With the years and the maturation process, we lose the capacity for wonder, because as we grow and add experiences and, due to the capacity for association, we can almost guess some social and/or individual behaviors .

Besides, the world we live in is slowly showing us its secrets. We hear thunder after lightning; we see the waves come and go and dip our feet in the sand; we see the little Christmas lights that we have turned off in our hands turn on and things like these caused us amazement at the time, in our adulthood, we hope they happen and if it doesn't happen, we would really be surprised.

Being willing to discover the world and having our links with the outside world ready, allows us to approach our environment like child explorers willing to find and record new discoveries, treasuring those that tune with our dreams and personality.

All surprises produce some type of change in routines, most of them for moments, others for life because they bring situations that go beyond the moment. The year 2020 surprised many of us (others knew what was cooking) with the unspeakable pandemic and its consequences.

The year 2021 gifted me with one of these significant, life-changing novelties. Thanks to God and our children, my husband was able to come to Spain. But they kept their coming a secret to surprise me, and they did! It was already a fact for me that we would spend another Christmas apart and a couple of days before his arrival, I got the news. Of course I was very surprised. I received the news and I didn't know what to say, I reacted little by little, until I assimilated the great news.

And from surprise to surprise, on December 24, from the window, I saw my youngest son arrive with his wife. It was the great wonder. The family reunited, for the first time in almost three years. Happy surprises, like these, are a great engine to continue living happily and always have the hope that the unexpected can happen.
