This is a Light Painting I created last night when a friend from the US came to visit Berlin. We drove around town and I brought him to all the important touristic places such as Brandenburg Gate and so on. At the end I thought we get a bit off the beaten track and we visited a soviet monument for the fallen soldiers who freed Berlin. It’s a very impressive site and here you see my interpretation of it bringing my friend into the frame, complementing the set of soldiers on both ends. The hint of red flames on the walls shall remind of the blood that was sacrificed to free Berlin.
What I did here technically? Starting with the kick light behind him, I ran to the right and lit the flames on the wall in red, and then I ran behind the right soldier and shed the blue light across so we will get the blue cross once I did the same from the other side. So yes same procedure; starting the blue behind the other soldier, finishing the blue cross on the ground, then the red texture on the wall to the left. At the end I put a white spot onto both soldiers from behind my friend so the flashlight will not be seen. Trigger off and done!
The settings on the camera were; ISO 100, F8 on a Laowa 12 mm, f/2.8, Zero-D. The 'long exposure' was 144 seconds.
Anyhow if you love it as much as i do leave a comment or an upvote
