Here I ended up feeling a little freer, off my parents' radar and at that time many years ago we were allowed to walk down the street from one house to another without much worry. ##### PT Palmilhei estas ruas anos a fio e não sei se me passaram algumas ao lado (ou se me esqueci) dado que o que aqui vos vou mostrar não me recordo de todo de ver. My aunt always had a full table to welcome us and made everyone eat because we were all "skinny". She was a full-time housewife and my uncle worked away all day. The red armchair by the window remained exactly in the same place and my aunt continues to sit next to it on the sofa. Everything was exactly the same as if time had stopped there when he left. ##### PT Para mim Ovar é sinónimo de tardes em frente à tv, muita brincadeira ao ar livre, musica brasileira (na altura a minha prima desfilava por uma das escolas de samba da cidade), carnaval e pão de ló. A minha tia tinha sempre uma mesa farta para nos receber e obrigava toda a gente a comer pois eramos todos "magrinhos". Ela era dona de casa a tempo inteiro e o meu tio trabalhava fora o dia todo. A poltrona vermelha junto à janela mantinha-se extamente no mesmo lugar e a minha tia continua a sentar-se no lugar ao lado no sofá. We followed the back of Praça da República and ended up in a square that I don't ever remember seeing in my childhood. Praça dos Chopinhos and on the side a restaurant that looks like a castle wall. We took the opportunity to have a snack and drink a "chopinho" :-) ##### PT Despedimo-nos e continuamos a visitar as ruas da cidade para mostrar à mais nova, pois a família também é dela se bem que agora com mais lugares vazios à mesa. Seguimos pelas traseiras da Praça da República e fomos dar a um largo que não me recordo de todo de ver na minha infância. Praça dos Chopinhos e na lateral um restaurante que mais parece uma muralha de um castelo. Here in this area it seems like time has stopped too. Everything is as I remember... The kiosk, the stairs and the court. They added letters with the name of the city and little else. As you can see, tile decoration continues to be an integral part of facades, at least in the most important buildings! Ovar has much much more to see. All that was left was to visit the market, the main church and go to Furadouro. ##### PT Dali fomos em direção ao centro onde existe um pequeno largo e na altura do carnaval muitos se reunem por aqui para depois rumarem às bancadas para assistirem ao cortejo. Aqui nesta zona parece que o tempo parou também. Está tudo como me recordo... O quiosque, as escadas e o tribunal. Acrescentaram as letras com o nome da cidade e pouco mais. Como podem ver a decoração com os azulejos continua a ser parte integrante das fachadas, pelo menos nos edificios mais importantes! Ovar tem muito muito mais para ver. The Carnival village was also created, which is where all the Samba schools in the city come from. I remember helping my cousin sew her suits (all handmade) and then playing with the outfits she wore. It was a good day :-) ##### PT Lá creio que agora sim esteja tudo muito diferente até por que a cidade começa a atrair cada vez mais turistas. Foi criada ainda a aldeia do Carnaval que é de onde partem todas as escolas da Samba da cidade.
