Saludos queridos amigos lectores, ayer por la noche estuve pensando en muchas cosas y particularmente recordando ciertos momentos que me hicieron feliz el año pasado e inclusive me dieron una lección de vida y una de ellas fue mucho más valiosa que todas las demás que recordé haber vivido. El pasado mes de septiembre estuve asistiendo junto a mis compañeros de universidad a una guardería de adultos mayores, esto fue con el fin de conocer a las personas que hacían vida allí, y simplemente regalarles un día diferente con nuestra compañía. Recuerdo que estuvimos asistiendo hasta allá dado a que nuestro profesor de proyecto socio jurídico comunitario nos había planteado la idea de que antes de graduarnos participáramos en una última jornada de labor social, la cual podía ir dirigida a los niños en estado de vulnerabilidad o a los adultos mayores carentes de familia. Lo más importante de todo esto era que nosotros mismos debíamos encargarnos de organizar todo, hacer los enlaces y recibir las aprobaciones respectivas, por suerte no fue una tarea muy difícil ya que la madre de una de mis compañeras trabaja en una guardería de adultos mayores, así que ella nos ayudó a hacer los enlaces respectivos. Para esta actividad mis ahora colegas y yo nos organizamos para ejecutar las diversas actividades que teníamos en mente para ese día, cuadramos la logística, comida y todo lo que haríamos para regalarle un poco de felicidad a esos adultos mayores. Por mi parte junto a mi grupo hicimos una tizana, la cual es una especie de bebida refrescante con frutas picadas, otros compañeros hicieron sándwiches, café, jugos, y llevaron varios snacks pero, por supuesto antes nos aseguramos de que todos los adultos que allí se encontraban podían consumir este tipo de alimentos. A su vez otras de mis compañeras llevaron esmaltes de uñas para hacerle manicure a las señoras y otras ligas de cabello para hacerles trenzas en el cabello, uno de mis compañeros que es barbero también se dispuso a prestar sus servicios y le cortó el cabello a varios señores. ![IMG-20220928-WA0063.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lolysacc/23wWwRMWsykwa1Ayp6YrWikBWipsoBFUE46w7UiYA35vtrTQ22qWNmmRFuexCGMKdt9mb.jpg)

Last September I was attending with my university classmates to a day care center for the elderly, this was in order to meet the people who lived there, and simply give them a different day with our company. >I remember that we were going there because our professor of community socio-legal project had suggested us the idea that before graduating we should participate in a last day of social work, which could be directed to children in a state of vulnerability or to older adults without family. The most important thing was that we ourselves had to organize everything, make the links and receive the respective approvals, luckily it was not a very difficult task since the mother of one of my colleagues works in a day care center for the elderly, so she helped us to make the respective links. >For this activity my now colleagues and I organized ourselves to execute the various activities we had in mind for that day, we arranged the logistics, food and everything we would do to give a little happiness to those seniors. I and my group made a tizana, which is a kind of refreshing drink with chopped fruit, other colleagues made sandwiches, coffee, juices, and brought various snacks but, of course before we made sure that all the adults who were there could consume this type of food. At the same time other of my companions brought nail polish to manicure the ladies and other hair bands to braid their hair, one of my companions who is a barber also offered his services and cut the hair of several gentlemen. ![uno de los señores más carísmaticos de la guardería.](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lolysacc/242rpjDHtMe6qhoza5dnyf79BgnNW68VWj5drvgqyxVKRrhUSC4mUdiqz4zu4Mv6S4YeB.jpeg) En este encuentro pude darme cuenta de dos cosas, la primera es que somos muy afortunados de tener a nuestro lado a una familia que reclame por nosotros y también pude comprobar que cuando envejecemos volvemos a ser niños de nuevo, y esto lo digo porque se notaba la emoción de esas personas sobre todo por los dulces, también se emocionaban hablando con nosotros, contándonos sus anécdotas y algunas historias soñadoras que sin duda nos sacaban sonrisas. Recuerdo que llegamos a esta guardería de adultos mayores a las 8:30 am y nos retiramos casi a las 2:00pm tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a estas personas algunas más a fondo que a otras, y también jugamos unos cuantos juegos de mesa como el dominó y cabe destacar que yo tuve una pareja que era mucho más experimentada que yo en el juego, nos fue muy bien. Fue una experiencia que me sensibilizó muchísimo, me demostró que a pesar de las adversidades éstas personas siguen adelante con unas sonrisa y con esperanza en el mañana, agradecidos con la vida y con lo poco que pueden contar. La gran parte de estos ancianos no tienen familia y si tienen no los toman en cuenta, algunos lo tenían todo en el pasado y quedaron sin nada en el futuro, no les gusta que los llamen “abuelos” porque como lo dije no tienen familia, otros ni siquiera hijos tuvieron, una de las historias que me llamó más la atención fue la del señor Pablo (el señor de la primera foto de este post) quien me contó que desde pequeño vivía trabajando en la capital de nuestro país (Caracas) se decidió a montar negocios y ayudar a sus padres, una vez que murió su padre se dedicó a su madre, no sentía que tenía la posibilidad de conseguir pareja siendo ya mayor y de un momento a otro quedo solo, sin padres, pareja o hijos (porque no tuvo vida amorosa).

>In this meeting I could realize two things, the first is that we are very fortunate to have a family by our side that claims for us and I could also see that when we get old we become children again, and I say this because you could see the excitement of these people especially for the candy, they were also excited talking to us, telling us their anecdotes and some dreamy stories that certainly made us smile. >I remember that we arrived at this senior day care center at 8:30 am and left almost at 2:00pm we had the opportunity to get to know these people some more in depth than others, and we also played a few board games like dominoes and it should be noted that I had a partner who was much more experienced than me in the game, we did very well. It was an experience that made me very sensitive, it showed me that despite the adversities these people go on with a smile and hope for tomorrow, grateful with life and with the little they can count on. >Most of these elderly people have no family and if they do, they are not taken into account, some had everything in the past and were left with nothing in the future, they do not like to be called "grandparents" because, as I said, they have no family, others did not even have children, One of the stories that caught my attention was that of Mr. Pablo (the man in the first picture of this post) who told me that since he was a child he lived working in the capital of our country (Caracas) he decided to start a business and help his parents, once his father died he dedicated himself to his mother, he did not feel he had the possibility of getting a partner being older and from one moment to another he was alone, without parents, partner or children (because he did not have a love life). ![IMG-20220928-WA0086.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/lolysacc/23wC9VR1bDH5Gyq6D4fYXkKndHhBtAmDU8XvMa47gw44MsqgVg95ZJSNLEzx5oquRWCco.jpg) Después sus negocios se vieron afectados por la crisis y perdió su casa por expropiación de tierras, quedo en la calle desamparado y gracias a ello llegó a tal institución de adultos mayores, este simpático señor me conmovió, era gracioso, feliz, tierno y respetuoso nuestra charla fue larga yo estaba feliz de conocerlo y él feliz de que nosotros lo visitáramos tal día. Poder compartir un poco de lo mío con aquellas personas me hizo cambiar un poco más mi mentalidad, me hizo agradecerle a Dios más de lo que acostumbro por mi familia y la vida que tengo. Hay un refrán que dice “Uno nunca sabe a dónde va, hasta que llega” y no puedo estar más de acuerdo con ello, es muy necesario que veamos un poco más allá de nuestra nariz y nos detengamos a pensar en aquellas personas que se encuentran desamparadas. Tenemos el poder de aportar nuestro granito de arena por pequeño que sea, debemos retribuirle a la vida un poco de lo que tenemos. Personalmente estoy agradecida por haber vivido esta experiencia universitaria que sin dudas me hizo crecer un poco más como persona y como profesional, regalarles un día de felicidad a los adultos mayores nos hizo más feliz a nosotros de lo que hubiésemos podido imaginar. We have the power to do our bit, no matter how small it may be, we must give back to life a little of what we have.
