The MANA is the "Salary Cap" per se of the battle that is going on. He has some decent health with the armor on board as well as. He is able to attack twice if he kills another monster also. If the Knight falls then this guy will move to the front of the line and can still attack with his magic. He is also offering Protect to all of his friendly monsters which is going to help with the Armor and immune to Fear.
