Gridcoin State of the Network Report #6 - January 20th, 2018

Welcome to the 6th Gridcoin State of the Network Report. The SotN Report is a fortnightly report organized by @parejan and @jringo. It compiles useful news and statistics that the community can use as they see fit. This week we have extended and organized the Community and News section and have added statistics from the Gridcoin pool. Development

Gridcoin 3.7.0.0 has been released! In fact, we’re up to [3.7.3.0](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@barton26/gridcoin-leisure-update-3-7-3-0-released) thanks to some quick fixes from some quick devs. A complete list of updates and fixes for 3.7.0.0 can be found [here](https://github.com/gridcoin/Gridcoin-Research/releases/tag/3.7.0.0). **This is a mandatory update!** It activates at block 1,144,000. Update by following the instructions at the 3.7.3.0 link above. TheCharlatan has presented some [points](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jringo/some-thoughts-regarding-a-proof-of-research-blockchain-by-core-developer-thecharlatan) against and spurred a conversation regarding prioritizing the development of a Proof-of-Research blockchain in 2018. @jringo has also [shared](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@jringo/why-i-will-be-voting-no-on-the-proof-of-research-roadmap-poll) thoughts on the subject. @ifoggz has illustrated, patched, and begun the recovery process for a "[Newbie Stake Loss](https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@ifoggz/newbie-stake-loss-compensation-what-is-it-phase-1-data)" bug. He has just recently begun [Phase 2](https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@ifoggz/newbie-stake-loss-compensation-phase-2-data) of the recovery process. @crt has developed a [web and android wallet](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@crt/gridcoin-web-and-android-wallet-are-now-on-main-net) for Gridcoin which is already used by more than 100 [users](https://steemit.com/gridcoin/@crt/android-wallet-just-hit-more-then-100-users). ---

SotN Header Bounty!

As you may have noticed, we have been using one of the brilliant headers made by the talented @joshoeah. We are hoping that for the next SotN report, we might have a unique header to differentiate the report from other posts. To encourage submissions, parejan and myself are organizing a bounty! ---
- To submit a header for consideration simply respond to this thread with your proposed image - Only one submission per person! Anyone who submits more than one image will have all their submissions disqualified - Any submission up to the posting of the next SotN report (Feburary 3rd around 1pm EST) will be considered - The winner will be chosen by parejan and jringo - The winning submission will be used for that report and the winner will be tagged in the post to get in contact with jringo or parejan - The bounty reward is: 150 GRC. The address will be set up by the end of this coming week.
