Due to life circumstances, I grew up listening to a lot of classic rock because several of my family members liked it. From Queen to Guns N' Roses, it wasn't unusual to find their songs blasting loudly in my house. Of course, as a kid, I didn't even know what the lyrics were about, but I still enjoyed them. I guess that's the magic of music; you simply connect with the mix of sounds. Today I'll tell you a little about the bands in this genre that really left their mark on me.

Classic rock is a genre that emerged in the mid-1960s, a style that is a blend of blues rock and hard rock. It is primarily characterized by epic guitar solos and powerful vocals that created iconic songs that are remembered even now. Queen is one of the bands that falls into this category and has also been one of the ones I've enjoyed the most. The energy, the lyrics full of hope, motivation, and other important messages, Freddie Mercury's absolutely incredible voice that gives you goosebumps, Brian May's incredible solos, and the choruses that make up this band's entire artistic spectacle. Listening to them is an experience that can lift anyone's spirits because they transmit so much good energy that it completely changes your mood. Their compositions and well-structured ideas gave life to a true work of musical art. Obviously, most people know [Bohemian Rhapsody](https://youtu.be/fJ9rUzIMcZQ?si=KWnxY90zVpdObT5w) and [We Will Rock You](https://youtu.be/-tJYN-eG1zk?si=hZcryg2xoSiTPM_Y), but they've created so many more incredible songs. My personal favorite is The Show Must Go On, both for its epic nature and for its lyrics, which for me are an anthem to resilience.

El rock clásico es un género que surgió a los mediados de los 60', que se compone de un estilo que es una mezcla entre blues rock y hard rock. Se caracteriza principalmente por los solos de guitarra épicos y las voces imponentes que crearon canciones icónicas, recordadas incluso ahora. Queen es una de las bandas que entra en esta categoría que además ha sido una de las que más he disfrutado. La energía, las letras cargadas de esperanza, motivación y demás mensajes importantes, la absolutamente increíble voz de Freddie Mercury que hace erizar la piel, los increíbles solos de Brian May, los coros que conforman todo lo que era el espectáculo artístico de esta banda. Escucharlos es una experiencia que puede subirle el ánimo a cualquiera porque transmiten tanta buena energía que te cambia el humor completamente. Sus composiciones e ideas bien estructuradas dieron vida a una verdadera obra de arte musical. Guns N' Roses is another band I loved from the very beginning. Their style is more hard rock, and it's reflected in everything from the aesthetic to the lyrics and overall sound. Their music is also full of energy, but the style is a bit rougher and stronger. The lyrics are diverse, talking about love, disappointment, the cruel reality of life, among other themes, which are also well-accompanied by Slash's solos and Axl Rose's incredible voice. So many of their songs are well-known, like [Welcome to the Jungle](https://youtu.be/o1tj2zJ2Wvg?si=-tsK4_sfR-IJIAiY), [Sweet Child o' Mine](https://youtu.be/1w7OgIMMRc4?si=wjh--auowfquRtBH), or [November Rain](https://youtu.be/8SbUC-UaAxE?si=D0sUe3O9F5nUwAQg). They were a very successful band for many years, defining a generation. Although I'll share an unpopular opinion here: Slash is quite overrated. Don't get me wrong, I really like him, but his solos are very simple, nothing that really makes him much better than others. But as I said, I love this band, and my favorite song of theirs is probably Patience

Guns N' Roses son otra banda que me encantó desde el primer momento. Su estilo es más hard rock y see refleja desde la estética hasta las letras y sonido general. Su música también está cargada de energía, pero el estilo es un poco más rudo, más fuerte. Las letras son diversas, hablando de amor, decepción, la cruel realidad de la vida, entre otros temas que eso sí, también están bien acompañados de los solos de Slash y la voz increíble de Axl Rose. Bon Jovi is another classic band of this genre that had a profound impact on me as a kid with their hopeful lyrics. They had a much softer style, although it still had a lot of energy. I think the songs could be enjoyed even by those who don't particularly listen to rock, because they truly have beautiful lyrics and the overall sound is a very fun and enjoyable rock. What I think stands out the most is the voice, but it blends perfectly with everything. [It's My Life](https://youtu.be/vx2u5uUu3DE?si=_FZjb-pUN-AhYD1B) and [Living on a Prayer](https://youtu.be/lDK9QqIzhwk?si=ATgmwkHVy2NNbBTI) are songs you can sing, cry, dance, and enjoy all at the same time. And their lyrics are the best thing about a day when you're not feeling so well. They really help lift your spirits. My favorite is Blaze Of Glory

Bon Jovi es otra banda clásica de este género que de pequeña me marco mucho con sus letras esperanzadoras. Ellos tenían un estilo mucho más suave aunque no deja de tener mucha energía. Las canciones creo que podrían gustarle incluso a quienes no escuchan rock particularmente, porque verdaderamente tienen letras muy bonitas y el sonido en general es un rock muy divertido y agradable de escuchar. Lo que creo que más resalta es la voz, pero se mezcla perfectamente con todo. Led Zeppelin juega un poco más con los géneros que las otras bandas que mencioné. Se pasean por hard rock, blues rock y flock rock, haciendo una mezcla única que es la que caracteriza su estilo. Led Zeppelin es una banda que no puedo comparar con ninguna otra; si bien creo que Bon Jovi suena similar a Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin es simplemente Led Zeppelin. Tienen un estilo único. Quizá sea la voz de Robert Plant, los solos de Jimmy Page o la batería de John Bonham, no sé, pero esta banda transmite mucho en cada una de sus canciones, como [The Immigrant Song](https://youtu.be/y8OtzJtp-EM?si=_k76yerOOgAsZl81), [Whole Lotta Love](https://youtu.be/HQmmM_qwG4k?si=kiW48lrQiI2zB6nM) y [Kashmir](https://youtu.be/tzVJPgCn-Z8?si=uuRbKyou7ojlObBZ). Aunque típica, mi favorita siempre será la que creo que es su canción más famosa, Stairway to Heaven («Escalera al cielo»). Tiene una magia, transmite una sensación que no puedo explicar con palabras. Es una canción preciosa.

And even though the band Rush and the singer Meat Loaf aren't the ones I've listened to the most (I simply haven't paid enough attention to them), I couldn't help but mention them because they completely shaped my childhood. The main influence for listening to this type of music comes from my father, and these artists, along with Queen, were the ones I listened to the most. The perfect soundtrack for every long road trip or a Sunday of total relaxation. Rush is a progressive rock band, much more experimental in their sound. Meat Loaf was a singer with a more theatrical rock style and a wide range. Both projects are incredible, so I understand why my dad loved them so much.

Y a pesar de que la banda Rush y al cantante Meat Loaf no son los que más he escuchado (simplemente no les he prestado la suficiente atención), no podía dejar de mencionarlos porque marcaron mi infancia completamente. La principal influencia de escuchar este tipo de música viene de mi padre, y éstos artistas junto a Queen eran los que más escuchaba. El soundtrack perfecto de cada viaje largo en carretera o un domingo de relajación total. Rush es una banda de rock progresivo, mucho más experimental en su sonido. Meat Loaf era un cantante con un rock más teatral y con un amplio rango. Ambos proyectos son increíbles por lo que entiendo que a mi papá le encantaran tanto.

Of course, I'm leaving out many bands and artists; mentioning them all would make this post endless. But what I wanted to highlight is that this genre has a wide spectrum of blends and sounds that many people can enjoy due to its diversity. It maintains a particular style, sure, but experiments with it to give life to different artistic projects that we can enjoy today as incredible works. So, if you're not a big fan of rock, I encourage you to listen to some of these bands. Maybe they'll make you change your mind.
