I will share a personal appreciation of one of the documentaries that have changed my way of analyzing photography. Perhaps many have already witnessed this masterpiece, however, I believe that we must give the opportunity to those who are starting in the audiovisual medium.

That said, the documentary in question is called "Baraka" directed by Ron Fricke in the year 1992.

The invitation is for you to enjoy this movie, to analyze each photograph, to make a cinematic speech while you watch it... to feel pleasure.

Busquen un asiento cómodo, suelten el estrés del día y prepárense para experimentar nuevas sensaciones audivisuales.

Les compartiré una apreciación personal de uno de los documentales que han cambiado mi forma de analizar la fotografía. Quizá muchos ya habrán presenciado esta obra maestra, sin embargo, considero que hay que darle la oportunidad a aquellos que están iniciando en el medio audiovisual.

Dicho esto, el documental en cuestión se llama "Baraka" dirigido por Ron Fricke en el año 1992.

La invitación es para que disfruten de esta película, para que analicen cada fotografía, para que armen un discurso cinematográfico mientras la ven... para que sientan placer.

Personal reflection

ENGLISH

We start from a thought since we have use of reason. A thought that can be real or just the opposite; we will never know it with the most advanced machine in history. And I think that if that machine came to exist, the end of our existence would be something absolute... and as we all know, nothing is absolute. Every day we create a new way to destroy ourselves, and yet we leave our hopes to an invisible God. We have attacked in a sudden way our own oxygen. We do not care if one day we cease to exist, many times we have proven it with wars. Everyone wants to be able, we are unstoppable machines and we will achieve our goal even if it is 100 thousand years later. We evolved in an exaggerated way. We have different types of religions that venerate only one God, and in the end he is the same... our creator, supposedly. So how far will we get with all this? I do not know, we do not know. A large amount of the world is selfish, very few people manage to enter a level of consciousness capable of rethinking the idea of loving ourselves. We adapt ourselves effectively to a social model and we often become our own enemy. As a society we disgust, or at least it disgusts me. We try to follow laws created and destroyed at the same time by ourselves... we walk backwards. Literally we are bugs obsessed by the pleasure of the "happiness" that capitalism offers us. Culturally we are individuals in constant learning, and everything we achieve in this life is so extraordinary.

To say that it is impressive, it falls short, but the photograph that Ron Fricke has come to express, makes me affirm that I love and hate this world at the same time. From how bloodthirsty we can be to the most innocent we are born being.

Reflexión personal

Partimos de un pensamiento desde que tenemos uso de la razón. Un pensamiento que puede ser real o simplemente todo lo contrario; nunca lo vamos a saber ni con la máquina más avanzada de toda la historia. Y creo que si esa máquina llegase a existir, el fin de nuestra existencia sería algo absoluto... y como todos sabemos, nada es absoluto. Todos los días creamos una nueva manera de destruirnos, y sin embargo le dejamos a un Dios invisible nuestras esperanzas. Hemos atacado de forma fulminante nuestro propio oxígeno. No nos importa si un día dejamos de existir, muchas veces lo hemos comprobado con las guerras. Todos quieren poder, somos máquinas imparables y lograremos nuestro cometido así sea 100 mil años después. Evolucionamos de una manera exabrupta. Tenemos diferentes tipos de religiones que veneran a un solo Dios, y al final viene siendo el mismo... nuestro creador, supuestamente. Entonces ¿hasta dónde llegaremos con todo esto? No lo sé, no lo sabemos. Una gran cantidad del mundo es egoísta, muy poca gente logra entrar en un nivel de conciencia capaz de replantearse la idea de amarnos a nosotros mismos. Nos adaptamos eficazmente a un modelo social y nos convertimos en muchas veces nuestro propio enemigo. Como sociedad damos asco, o al menos a mí me produce asco. Tratamos de seguir leyes creadas y destruidas al mismo tiempo por nosotros mismos... caminamos para atrás. Literalmente somos unos bichos obsesionados por el placer de la "felicidad" que nos ofrece el capitalismo. Culturalmente somos individuos en constante aprendizaje, y es tan extraordinario todo lo que logramos en esta vida.

Decir que es impresionante, me queda corto, pero la fotografía que Ron Fricke ha llegado a expresar, me hace afirmar que amo y odio este mundo al mismo tiempo. Desde lo sanguinario que podemos ser hasta lo más inocente que nacemos siendo.
