Funny thing how you forget prices of things as time goes by.
This fall will a complete 17 years here in Central America.
Twelve of those years in the highlands between 1,000m to my current 1,540m here in Antigua, Guatemala.
Check out the video below on 3Speak and see my neighborhood.
How much does it cost to live in town?
That all depends what you are looking for in comfort, safety, and location.
I prefer to live without a car and not need to take taxis and Tuk Tuks everywhere.
The entrance way is down a driveway right of 6 Avenida leading down a driveway to the front door, which photo is above.
If you continue past the entrance to the apartment for about five meters you come to common sitting area.
Mainly it is just the owner and his family using this area but Juanito, who just moved out of this apartment to head back to the States for a few months use to read in the afternoons in the common area.
This place has a lot of natural light.
Don't mind Roscoe, he is just checking the place, he does not come with it.
This place is just about five blocks north of Parque Central and just a 100m+ of La Merced.
It comes completely furnished.
It has one bedroom.
A small kitchen.
One Bathroom with a suicide shower. (LOL...no worries...these are common in Central America)
There is also what I would call a walkin closet/office.
Total price is Q2,800 which is about $375 USD plus electric which I would guess is about Q150 or $20 USD.
A Great Neighborhood To Live In
There is a nice little local place for food and drink called the Sunshine Grill.
You can see me pass it on my morning walk on the below video.
Want To Meet Some Travelers
There is a Selina Hostel Right down the street with great internet for nomads that need high speed connection.
Just past the Sunshine Grill there is a place that rents rooms for about Q1,500 ($200 USD) per month and also lets people rent tent space and/or hammocks but I am not positive about those details.
There is also a Central de Salud in about 200m away.
There is a laundry spot right across the street and I think it cost Q6 per pound.
There is Iglesia del Merced (catholic) and Iglesia del Camino (evangelical) close by for those who are religious or even for historical value.
Antigua is a great spot for expats and if you got any questions just fire away in the comment section.
