The sketch outline.

It's an early Sunday morning here and I was just having my morning coffee and enjoying our view.

You can see the sun beginning to slide across the water.

We are early risers, here at Toad Hall.

This morning began at 6 am. Being morning people we get to enjoy that quiet when even the shore birds have not begun their morning rounds and today the sea is so still.

I was joyous yesterday when September began it's march onward into Autumn by gifting us with cooler weather.

Being in the low 70's ( That's 20's C for everyone else) at the hottest point in the day feels wonderful. Though, I do not want to think about our past Winter when it was so cold. But, our early Spring gave this same view a different feel, as you can see the same shots but from March of this year.

What is lacking is the green. Also, no boats moored for their Summer fun.

Even the clarity of the water in March has an icy feel to it, a sharp cool glass showing the sea bed, tempting a toe to be rewarded with an icy stab.

And believe me, I've taken that lure and plopped my feet into this sea in March, it is Cold. A warning to wait for a few months.

Now it is quite warm in our little harbour to swim.

The shallow waters at lower tide heat up like bath water. This is fleeting, however, and as I smile at the cooler temperatures of late Summer and look forward to Autumn, I know that the icy blasts of Winter are not as far away as next Summer's heat.

But, for now, I'm enjoying my quiet cool Summer morning; taking in our view, sipping my cooling coffee and sketching on my surface.

Sometimes it is simply a journal and pencil, but my little surface does a fine job for simple sketches and ideas. And of course my head is always swimming nowadays with hybrid ladies in their finery.

I hope you have a moment to sit and sip coffee. If you are an early riser, to take in that quiet only an early morning can offer. To sit and think of nothing and everything on a fine Summer morning is a treat as fine as gold, in my books. I hope you get such a treasure today.
