Daily Geometries | Solo Exhibition

After some time working in various formats and exploring new possibilities/techniques for creating artworks I had the opportunity to show my work at the Zulia Contemporary Arts Museum in Venezuela. Daily Geometries (GeometrĂa Cotidiana) was a solo #exhibition, with a total of 28 paintings ranging from 12 x 12 cm (4.7 ") to 60 x 60 cm (23.6 ").

As a result of his continuous study and a visual language focused on pure forms and color, Julio's paintings are influenced by the past and the present; with simple and loose forms the work affirms a sort of static dynamic that derives in abstract compositions, as an allegory to a captured moment, a photogram.

In Daily Geometries Smitter displays some kind of fluid field where, beyond motion, the translation of forms takes place, approaching a point where the boundaries between our inner world and the outer universe are erased.

The composition gives value to what it manifests, the relationship between forms, which originates from modified geometric shapes arranged in different planes, overlapped, subtracted and multiplied, until the idea of their translation perpetuates, beginning in the picture and continuing in the memory of the observer. Perhaps this relationship between forms is a portrait of our own dynamics, that synthesizes what is permanent in our own existence: change and movement.

The elements that constitute this series of works are but modified geometric shapes, integrated and distributed according to a geometry as premeditated as automatic, but as a whole it is our world what is being expressed, our world with its dynamism, its power, its color, its rhythm.

This is a translation of the original text for the exhibition --written by @andrea432, who was also in charge of the production design.

Just a few days after the opening I was invited to share my work and host an art workshop for kids at the #Museum, they made their own Daily Geometries and the results were amazing -- I'll be sharing that later (;
