Cuando mucho me había alejado, el mar se empezó a comportar extraño, se estaba deformando, como si un remolino se estuviera formando. Me asusté, no sabía que vendría después, de repente un animal saltó y me saludó.
Me quedé asombrada, era un tiburón martillo con tierna mirada, mantenía una sonrisa perpetua, como si jamás sintiera tristeza. Su nombre es Vartillo, porque es un valiente martillo, le falta una aleta, que fue mutilada para vender en otras tierras. Pero no sientan lástima, un coral le suturó la herida causada, aprendió a nadar de manera extraordinaria, incluso salta para saludar a quienes pasan.
No tiene resentimiento, más bien mucho amor bueno, por eso sonríe siempre y está orgulloso de su forma presente. El dinoflagelado que lo escolta, emite luz en las noches tenebrosas, es su fiel compañero, que lo ha acompañado desde hace tiempo.
Vartillo jamás se ha sentido débil, es un animal fuerte que nada hábilmente, caza peces pequeños y juega con focas en tiempos veraniegos.

The dinoflagellate that escorts him, emits light on dark nights, is his faithful companion, who has been with him for a long time. Vartillo has never felt weak, is a strong animal that swims skillfully, hunts small fish and plays with seals in summer.
Vartillo simboliza a las víctimas de las minas antipersonas, que han sido mutilados dejando almas con zozobra, sin embargo, tras el duro impacto, han recobrado la fuerza y amor por el mundo. Los vemos por las calles, con una sonrisa brillante, agradecidos por la vida y con ganas de que todos nos contagiemos de sus risas.
Vartillo también representa la triste realidad de los tiburones martillo, víctimas del aleteo, una práctica ilegal en varios países como el mío, que pone en riesgo la supervivencia de la especie. Estos comen peces y mamíferos, controlan las poblaciones manteniendo el equilibrio en el ecosistema.

Vartillo symbolizes the victims of antipersonnel mines, which have been mutilated leaving the anxious souls, however, after the hard impact, they have recovered their strength and love for the world. We see them in the streets, with a bright smile, grateful for life and wishing everyone could laugh.
Vartillo also represents the sad reality of hammerhead sharks, victims of flutter, an illegal practice in several countries like mine, which puts the survival of the species at risk. These eat fish and mammals, control these populations maintaining the balance in the ecosystem.
