A fellow I met in an improv class is coming over in about an hour to do some video recording of me painting. That'll be a fun experience. I love networking with people. There are so many sorts of people to meet in the world, and no shortage of ways to interact. He's building a reel of stock footage, and I get to be a piece of that. I think it's cool.
I'm underslept because of improv. Improv never left my life! We had Belleville-ville last night. Usually it's the first Tuesday of every month at the Monarch, but occasionally, people come in and book the space for money. We can't compete with that! We're actors! Lol.
The show went a little off the rails. I really liked it. Maybe only because I did a lot of the conducting. It started with the Coach, Jonathan Dickler, and I think Mallard, the proprietor of the town gas station/garage. Coach was supposed to try to get a plowing job via Mallard during the off season, but alls I remember is that he gave an offer I couldn't refuse. He mentioned something about the One True God. In my first scene, I established a plot line that summoned all the old Nordic gods. I had to make a couple of them up on the spot, but it turned out fine.
I held a seance to find out why Joe Clark was haunting the town drunk. Joe Clark told Sam, the town drunk, that he had to destroy all the Trudeaus, and then vote conservative. Of course, Sam runs over to Trudeau motors, the town garage, to try to assassinate Mallard, the proprietor, with some tin snips. He failed, and was killed in action. His body was taken over by the god of courage, Ravenous. One by one, the denizens of Belleville-ville fell to become old gods. Mallard became Thor, Buck-eh became Ratatoskr, the Squirrel Tail Bearer! Coach became Prince Phillip Henry Morris, the God of Gin, and Doug, the Trapper, became Rick James, and ruled them all.
In my opinion, this was a great show. Apparently it moved a lot faster than our audience was used to. They're used to going out for a smoke and still basically understanding what's going on in the show when they come back. Fools! Now they know never to look away!
