Exhibition Piece Snippet

(These photos were taken by @cryptocariad )

I made nine faces like this one and hung them all up on a wall (which I hammered nails into, the entire college building heard the hammering sounds, so that was incredibly awkward, haha!)

I made this piece for a unit in my art course. The unit is called Multidisciplinary, because working with different skills and techniques and materials is encouraged during the unit to then build up to a final exhibition piece!

The brief we were given was "Current Affairs". SO, I made a piece inspired by that, which basically represents the feeling that people have become somewhat desensitized to the things that have been happening in the world. So many bad things happen around the same time and I feel like people don't have enough time to think and grieve over these things.. I'm not sure if I'm making sense.

I feel like there's an endless cycle of bad things happening in the world and people are so used to it now, and that's really sad..

SO. My art piece consisted of 9 (roughly) A4 sized pieces of canvas material, each with tired/sad looking faces on them. The faces were hand embroidered, which took several hours/days to complete!!! The wall was painted a bright crimson red colour as I wanted the faces to stand out but I also wanted a colour that looked angry in the background of the faces, almost as if the thoughts of current (bad) events are constantly in the back of our minds.

I'm quite tired so I'm not sure if I made any sense! Sorry about that!

Thank you for stopping by :)
