With SMT's on their way developers have been busy coming up with innovative ways to utilise the Steem blockchain, one of the newest projects to arrive on the blockchain is BackScratcher.

BackScratcher brings similarly vested accounts together and allows automated upvoting between them, it is essentially a curation trail except that there is a dedicated team keeping everything running smothly, the same team have created many Steem related products already such as Trailbase which monitors a given trail and allows users to examine them in greater detail.
As of writing there is a total of 523276.965 SP in the trail, which means that an upvote of 10% would be worth around $1.00 which may not sound like much, though it doesn't cost anything and is fully automated; so why not, there is a certain criteria to be able to join the trail which is as follows:
500-999 SP gets you a 1% upvote once every 24 hours
1,000-4,999 gets you a 5% upvote once every 24 hours
5,000-9,999 gets you a 10% upvote once every 24 hours
10,000-19,999 gets you a 20% upvote once every 24 hours.
20,000-29,999 gets you a 30% upvote once every 24 hours
30,000-39,999 get you a 40% upvote once every 24 hours and so on..
