VOP: Who Is Lewis Arthur

The focus of today’s post is the leader of the Walking For The Forgotten ministry, aka Veterans On Patrol. There has been much slander and insinuation against this man since he found the child sex trafficking camp. In order to better understand what is what, it is crucial to understand the man who refuses to go away, despite the intense persecution he receives from government and media.

His critics would have you focus on the man he was years ago. By his own admission he says he walked in darkness, giving himself over to drugs and other harmful choices. But God had higher plans for him, and was able to soften this man’s heart. The bible is full of stories of such men. One need look no further than Paul to know the changes that can occur in a man’s heart when God reveals a higher truth.

For Lewis, his child was one of the main catalysts. As was his discovery of the plight of homeless vets across the nation. Once he began understanding what was going on with these abandoned vets, the challenges to find another meal. The repeated attacks from gang members and other scum when they would get their monthly checks he found himself outraged. Outraged that the very men and women who served what they believed was a nation that cared now would barely acknowledge them as their usefulness to them dried up. Before I move on, I am going to share with you a video made a few years ago, at the homeless camp he built for them in Tucson. This is the same camp I reported a month ago that the corrupt political machine in Tucson shut down to punish Lewis for continuing to hinder their evil trafficking empire. These are real people, real lives he was helping.

Before this camp was built, Lewis had much soul searching and discovery to undergo. He decided to live for several weeks with them on the streets so he could understand firsthand the hardships and dangers these men and women endure. He climbed a light pole in protest of their being tossed aside, holding a flag upside down to tell the nation that these forgotten needed our assistance.

The upside down flag is a distress signal for military. During all of this, he heard stories of men being thrown out of their wheelchairs, their money and few belongings stolen. It was a vicious cycle for these homeless vets. Saying enough is enough, he knew he had to give these people a better life. To organize them to watch out for one another, the way they had when the government was using them.

This next video is an hour long, and I know many are hard pressed to have the free time. But this interview with him is from a few years ago, and you will know this man for who he is and stands for if you will give the time. There will be no questioning the love in this man’s heart, no questioning the example he set for all of us once you understand him in his own words.

In case you simply can’t find the time, I will share some of the many things he said that touches my heart and inspires me to be a better man. I have to say I agree with so much this man has to say, and he is a showcase example for those who long for a voluntary society. For those who ask how things will get done, this man is the example that should be cited. He talks about the disconnect in our communities, about how we ignore our neighbors. He expresses that we need to change this, and let our neighbors know we love them.

He talks of something I have for many years, and that is the circus of politics, where they are always trying to pull us to the left or the right. He refuses to be pulled to either side and keeps his focus on the center where his work is to be done. He goes on to mention that people do not naturally hate one another. Not because of nationality, not because of race, not because of religion.

He challenges anyone to find a ministry such as his. His ministry views the world as our church. Not some building. Every action, every location is a place for church to be found, for love and God to be found.

He mentions the many different factions of the so called truther movements. How they all believe things have to be done a certain way and spend much of their energy bickering over how things are to be done. That if you way is good prove it. He points out that usually though, the loudest about how their way is best aren’t actually doing it, just talking about it. He says that people need to start focusing on doing good for someone other than themselves.

He describes his ministry as a self-sacrificing organization and not a non-profit so as to avoid the entanglement with government. One can’t serve two masters. He sums his interview up with saying we need to turn the TV off, and go talk with out neighbors. That protests and marches won’t bring change, strengthening our bonds with our neighbors will bring the change. He closes out by saying how horrible it is that people view the homeless as though there is something wrong with them. That it is us that has something wrong with us for viewing them that way, as less than us.

He Is Showing Us How To Do This

I find myself thanking God when I see what this man does for his brothers and sisters. What he endures to stop what is happening to those children they are raping as they drag them across that deadly desert to sell into bondage. I am thankful that I see someone who has the conviction to act. I had grown bitter over the years thinking such men didn’t exist. That they were simply a romantic figure made real only in books and movies.

I have come across many here in the Steemit community who talk of voluntary societies, and this man is proof we can make it so. But are we willing to do what this man is doing, and step forward when we see no one else doing so? For myself, the answer is yes. I am hopeful for those of you who want better for our families that you will be inspired as well to step forward. Step forward and act on what your heart is calling you to do. Put down the arguing, the divisiveness. To begin focusing on what we agree on and actually get some things done now.

In closing, I wish to make another quick examination. This is of one of his many adversaries, who it has been alleged is paid by the government to do so. She has messed with their mail, vandalized their property, stolen their property, spent months making videos slandering him. Here is a link to a video of this woman and some of her anti VOP brigade vandalizing an 80 year old mans truck, throwing his tools in the mud before they steal his flag. His crime you may ask? He helps VOP. Notice in the video she even has her teen son with her, holding the stolen flag as she records herself with pride. Of the two of them, it is easy to see which is bearing fruit and which is bearing poison.

So when you see the government slandering him. See the media slamming him. See these groups slamming him, please remember this is the man they slander, and ask yourself what his detractors are known for doing. Evil hates the light, and this man is shedding so much light they tremble in rage and fear.
