This weekend i found myself in Chang Rai i flew up early this morning from Bangkok due to a company business meeting i was with a work colleague that had never been to Chang Rai and he was interested in seeing the big Buddha on the mountain even though i have seen it myself already i didn't mind seeing it again and we had all day to ourselves before the meeting the next day so of we when to see the big Buddha.

We borrowed one of the companies cars logged into GPS and of we when it's about 20 mins drive out of the Chang Rai city center. Chiang Rai city is in the Northern part of Thailand and it has very lush green cool mountainous ranges and temperatures are cooler here then Bangkok city the city of Chang Rai is also known for it's many famous Buddhist statues and Temples.

The one Buddha statues that i have taken a liking to in Chang Rai is called Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy which sits on a hill with lush green landscape surrounding this gorgeous Buddha statue. Guan Yin is a female Bodhisattva in Thai Buddhism which means someone that has reached enlightenment during their lifetime and continued to help others.

Guan Yin Buddha Statue represents a compassionate being is what the Thai people say and believe this Buddha responds to people who cry out for help.

This Guan Yin Buhhda Statue stands 23 stories high and has a lift built within the statue that you can journey up to the very top and observe the fantastic views of Chiang Rai city and the mountains through the window opening built in behind the head of the Guan Yin Buddha , definitely breathtaking experience.

On the ground floor of the Guan Yin statue you can sit and relax and take in the 360 degrees views and there are many statues surrounding this massive Guan Yin Buddha statue.

More views of the lush green mountains looking out from the window opening from the head of the Guan Yin Statue looking down onto the 9 Tier Pagoda.

Inside the Guan Yin Statue you have around the walls all these beautiful elaborately decorated sculptures that has been a on going for years all hand made porcelain statues and decoration just amazing and to know the man hours gone into making these statues and decorations are countless.

The 9-Storey Pagoda known as "The 9-Tier Temple" is more Chinese or Japanese looking there are no lifts in this Temple you need to climb quite a few stairs if you want to see the views from top of this Temple it is certainly a good workout but no rush there are many beautiful wooden sculptures of various famous Buddhists laid out on each floor that you can observe.

And of course you always need to have the happy fat Buddha amongst all the showcase it keeps everyone within a great sense of harmony and i have to admit i really enjoy been here today i had more time to look around and the Temple was more complete then last time i was here so my colleague was very impressed and i was pleased for him that he got to see this amazing piece of art.

Thank you @ace108 for hosting #beautifulsunday and thank you @c0ff33a for hosting #SublimeSunday.
