Walk It Off
Two and a half weeks being locked up indoors is enough to drive the sane, well insane! Feeling much better a walk in the park is the best medicine, dogs on leads and off we go to enjoy our walk in glorious winter weather, another perfect day!
First up a wild fig tree full of ripened fruit is the Yellow Fronted Canary, looks like he/she is enjoying what is on offer up there!
In the same tree a Cape wagtail, bobbing on the branch perhaps he is up there looking for the odd insect close to the fruit.
Ambling along closer to the water sits a Reed cormorant giving an over the shoulder glance as if to say, this is my neck of the river here... move on.
Giant egret appears to have the same disdainful look, enjoying squelching mud through it's toes in the bed of the river.
Oh our beautiful (Erythrina latissimi) Broad-leaf coral tree is back in flower again, what a gorgeous red against the blue sky this bloom gives.
Oh dear, fun and games, this is not what the dogs enjoy totally perplexed at what they should do when the herders take their cattle through the park. Just as well they are leashed up, we give the herd a wide berth and watch which way they going to avoid contact.
Even a poor confused Woolly necked stork is caught up in front of the herd of cattle coming across the sports fields.
Moving along in front of the restaurant known as "Lords and Legends" where people stand on the verandah looking at the cattle moving across.
Down to the river to cross after a quick drink, the herder is taking them over to greener pastures on the other side, if ever you visit South Africa you will see cattle being herded on freeways, back roads, well anywhere really finding a good nibble!
Safely on the other side, we are now able to move across the sports fields and back to get the dogs some water after their first walk out after a few weeks with me being ill, how they enjoyed just being out, yes if I had a tail I too would wag it, these lovely cooler days of winter are the ideal time of year to be outdoors.
Trees are slowly changing, with another Coral Tree in our park (Erythrina caffra) Coastal coral tree changing with flowers open and new leaves appearing for Spring is only but a month away.
Close up of the Coastal coral tree flower full of ants drinking the nectar.
Thanks for visiting, wishing everyone a wonderful new week ahead.
