Blockstack is building the new decentralized internet. And with the Blockstack Browser you can access decentralized applications.
The benefits are that you own your data, apps run locally without remote servers, and you only need to sign in once.
I’ve written a few articles detailing how Blockstack works. You can find the latest one here, and it links to the rest of the articles. Today we’ll see what’s been going on with Blockstack over the past couple months.

Keep in mind with Blockstack there’s no token to buy on the exchanges at this point. That will come later in the year when the team releases the Stacks protocol.
Blockstack did however, conduct a token sale for accredited investors where they were able to raise $50 million.
Notable investors included Union Square Ventures, Foundation Capital, Lux Capital, Winklevoss Capital, Blockchain Capital, Digital Currency Group, Kevin Rose, Michael Arrington, and Qasar Younis.
Over 800 individuals and funds participated and according to Blockstack everyone got the same token price of $0.12.
There’s also over 8,000 individuals who got vouchers to purchase up to $3,000 worth of tokens. No word on when that takes place. But the key point is that Blockstack will be nicely distributed with nearly 10,000 participants.
In development news Blockstack enabled Multi-Player Storage for its browser. That enables users to not only own and control access to their own data, but also to share it with friends without need for a third party.
There’s now 17 ready to use apps for the Blockstack browser with 12 more coming soon. You can find the list here. The newest is called Coins. It’s an encrypted token tracking app and was the winner of a Blockstack Community challenge.
The focus for the months ahead:
#1 – Continue to make progress towards Milestone 1, going live with the Blockstack blockchain.
#2 – Continue progress on the Blockstack browser and working on Blockstack for mobile.
#3 – Grow the Blockstack ecosystem by funding developers and growing the user base.
Check out the Blockstack Browser today.
