See that pile of stuff? A small business in our town was closing and the owners just wanted to unload their inventory and be done with it. This store specialized in home schooling materials and classroom supplies. For $25 they allowed you in the door and you could take as much as you could carry.
This story is becoming more and more the norm as we enter the 4th industrial revolution and the coming of the age of abundance. A lot of people I know are fearful of what it means when that many businesses are closing so rapidly. Even the big box stores are succumbing to it. Toys R Us, JC Penney etc...
I'm not fearful and here's why. I was able to procure items from that store that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to purchase. I have a box of great stuff that I can use when its time to home school the twins. Not only that, there were items that I'm able to resell on Amazon and make a little profit. Enough to pay the $25 I spent, plus some.
I actually ended up with so many items that I was able to donate this pile to the twins pre school!
The twins preschool is a non profit and they rely on donations of items to operate. They were super excited to see all this great stuff! They get #ophumanangeled by me alot, I don't think they're surprised anymore, but they always appreciate it. 😂
So, to recap: once some items sell on Amazon I'll have made my money back and then some. Plus having a box of great stuff to keep for my kids and a bunch of stuff to donate to their school. 😍
Now, I hear you saying, " but what about the poor business owners? " Ok, yeah. I hate that part. But at this point in time I think it's best we all stop pretending that capitalism works. The idea of little mom and pop corner shops are akin to ye olde general store where you could get a sack of groceries for a nickel. Let's face it, we can and are distributing these goods better ourselves in our communities and online than a brick and mortar store can.
But that's just my take on it. I can be fearful or I can jump in and start helping to redistribute some of this stuff.
In other news, the twins are almost fully potty trained! Unless they have a huge regression, but I have high hopes! 😍 Hope everyone is having a great start to the week! Love and light.
