You have played Yu-Gi-Oh in the past haven't you? If not maybe you have heard about HearthStone? Well let me tell you what all those have in common with Splinterlands - they are online digital collectible card games and have massive success.

But the real game changer with Splinterlands is that you can actually make money by PLAYING it. It sounds too good to be true? Well it is!

Now that I have your attention you will probably be wondering how can I start playing it. Well to help you out I wrote a short Getting Started Guide for you:
1)Go to www.splinterlands.com and you should see the following screen:
2)Press "Play Now" and a new popup will show:
3)After pressing "Create Account" you will be asked to enter a username - chose it wisely as you can never change it again!
4)Check if the name you entered is available and if yes you will see the following screen:
5)Enter your email address and choose a password. It's important to use a real email address. The password you create is very limited (if you're buying a starter pack you'll only ever use it once) and the only way to get full access to your account involves getting an automated email.
6)Then click Create Account and you'll have access to the game - for free atleast. :)
Now this is when it gets interesting. At this point you'll have some "fake/playable" cards that you can play with, but you won't be able to earn rewards or acquire real cards.
7)If all you want to do is play for free, you're done and can feel free to explore the game. But if you want to get into the game for real, you need a Starter Pack.
Starter packs can be obtained in a number of ways, but all of them start by going to the Shop page.
You'll see four buttons for the four ways to acquire Starter Packs.
*Code allows you to enter a promotional code to get a free starter pack. They can be acquired at promotional events, as gifts and in various promotions that run from time to time.
*Paypal - well you know Paypal.
*Crypto - with this option you can pay with one of a range of popular cryptocurrencies.
*Redeem Tron Token - Tron tokens are a past promo and are usually unavailable, though very occasionally one could have been found on Tronwatch.Market.(which doesn't exist anymore)
Now if you decide that 10$ is not too much to start your journey in Splinterlands - then congratulations you are one step further into being a smart crypto gamer and investor. Remember without money you cant get money :).
You wont see a big change after the purchase of the starter pack in your Splinterlands account but the biggest changes are:
You will see a daily quest showing here and also you can play ranked matches.
Furthermore you will gain complete access to you Steem/HIVE Account - let me explain that in details:
There are many ways to access Steem accounts, but the easiest one for major browser users is the Steem Keychain browser extension, built by the developers of the game. (Chrome, Firefox, Github) Add the extension to your browser using the appropriate app store.
Back in the game website, click on your username to open the Settings menu.
One of the options there will now be Request Account Keys. Click this and read and accept the warning popup.
You will get an automated email with a link to get your account keys.
Click the link to get a special Splinterlands login page just for this purpose.
Log in with the email address and password you used to create the account. It will then give you a list of keys (passwords) to your Steem account.
Write them all down, but especially the Master Password. If you have that you can get all the others back.
Now that you saved those, we're going to import your Steem keys into the Keychain browser extension. Click the pair of keys in your extension bar to open the main menu (left).
Click the clover menu on the upper right to open the settings menu.
Then click Add Account to open the add account menu (right). In this menu enter the username that you chose and the master password that you just got, click Import Keys, and you're done. Keychain will now handle all of your interactions with the Steem blockchain automatically, and you won't have to worry about it, either in the game or elsewhere.
Congratulations you are all set up and can dig into the world of Splinterlands.
