Another great at the Scottsdale Sale in January, this gorgeous 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 will heading to auction through Gooding & Company.

History of the Aston Martin DB2/4

Replacement of the DB2, the Aston Martin DB2/4 was produced between 1953 and 1957 in 3 series :
- Saloon (2+2 hatchback),
- Drophead Coupé (DHC),
- Fixed Head Coupé (2 seats).

The model was based on the DB2 with some upgrades : wraparound windsreen, new design of the headlights, larger bumpers) and a reduction in fuel tank capacity for more space for the rear seats.

Although the DB2/4 was not designed to be a racing car, it participted with success at some competitions like in 1955 in the Monte Carlo Rally.


Specification

Named the Gentleman's Express, the DB2/4 has 2,580 cc DOHC inline six-cylinder engine (W.O. Bentley) with dual SU carburettors with four-speed manual transmission producing 125 hp. It can reach the 100 kmh in 11 seconds with a top speed of 190 kmh.

The interior was elegant with the finest-quality leather and wool. This model cost £2621 including taxes :-).
