On the same day the Poland elections were held, citizens in another major communist country on the other side of the world was experience resistance for political reforms. Over a million people had gathered in Tiananmen Square for over two months protesting peacefully. They requested reforms for democracy, freedom of speech, and measures to combat corruption and inflation. Basic human rights in a modern free society.
Their requests were ignored, and in the early hours of 4th June, the communist government sent twenty thousand troops along with tanks into Tiananmen Square opening fire on the defenceless protesters. The People's Liberation Army were massacring the people not liberating them. After that day, thousands of people never returned home. They left this world fighting for freedom and their family were not allowed to mourn for them. The events of Tiananmen Square was wiped from history. It is a taboo subject for those who know, and non existence for the younger generation.
