Awabar Fukoouka, a Japanese bar has been reported to have partnered with a local Lightning Network (LN) protocol developer, Nayuta, to enable customers to pay with Bitcoins.
LN is a second layer cryptocurrency payment channel that enables bitcoin network to process transactions faster and with significantly less fees.
However users are warned that the second layer payment protocol is still at its experimental stages and is yet to release its commercial version.
Despite these warnings there is an accelerated growth of the network as more and more users joining the network expanding its consumer base.
Nayuta team describes the initiative a field test for LN and states that the usage of LN is fairly risky due to the fact that no all Lightning Network transactions are successful, but test like this is a necessity to allow them to determine what improvements can be made to the LN protocol.
