The Russian federal state of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra will be launching a blockchain-enhanced tourism platform according to local news outlets.
Roman Genkel, the general director of the region’s development fund has signed an agreement with Alexander Borodich, the CEO of blockchain startup Universa, to launch the platform that will enable tacking public spending and investment.
According to Genkel tagging the money using distributed ledger technology will protect government grants and investments against misuse.
The platform will be available in multiple languages to ensure that all participants in the ecosystem will be connected to the system, these includes tourist products and services, transportation, accommodation and catering providers, investors and tourist themselves.
The project was initiated during the St. Peterburg international Economic Forum with proponents hoping that blockchain technology would transform the country’s tourism industry.
