The relatively new Intercontinental Exchange subsidiary, Bakkt, has recently acquired a New York State trust charter given by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).
This development clears its way in offering the physically-settled bitcoin futures contracts, which the cryptocurrency community has been waiting for since last year as it was widely perceived as one of the catalyst that will break the bearish trend of the whole crypto market.
According to Bakkt CEO Kelly Loefler, their contracts have already been received the green light from the CFTC through the self-certification process and user acceptance testing of its platform has already begun.
Her company expects to finish with user acceptance testing by late September and she expects the launch the futures exchange on September 23, 2019.
