Bitcoin Futures Heating Up

The late 2017 bull run of the cryptocurrency market was mainly attributed as the result of the creation of the first Bitcoin Futures contract at CME and the now defunct bitcoin contract of CBOE.

It seems that the industry will soon again titillate the minds of cryptocurrency speculators as one of the major players in the traditional finance industry is entering the digital assets market with its own cryptocurrency derivatives product.

Bakkt has recently revealed that it is currently conducting User Acceptance testing on its platform which essentially means that we could see its final products offering anytime soon, this is a much anticipated product since the company is backed by the operators of the world’s largest stock exchange, the New York Stock Exchange.

The U.S.-based crypto derivatives and clearing platform LedgerX announced the Centurion Contract, a $100K call option for bitcoin that will expire on December 2020, this means that the price of bitcoin should be $100,000 per BTC by 2020 roughly translating to 2 trillion of market capitalization.

Interest on crypto derivatives market is truly increasing fast as proven by CME’s bitcoin futures breaking its previous records time and time again and the entry of more traditional finance players in the space.
