
Halving is an event when the rewards that are given out the miners who secures a blockchain is reduced by 50%.
Depending on the project this even happens every few years such as in Bitcoin which will see a reduction of its block rewards by 50% and occurs every four years.
This will be the third halving event for Bitcoin which has seen its halving in November 28th 2012 and on July 9th 2016 and the third is expected in June 2020.
