For those who still thinks that Bitcoin is still a passing fad or play money that millennials are experimenting with here is news for you, at around $9,000 at the time of this writing it is now the 8th largest currency in the world surpassing even surpassing a country that has one of the strongest military strength.
The report also reveals that by far gold is still the largest monetary system in the world at almost $8 trillion, but the digital gold is hot on its heels and pundits argue that Bitcoin might usurp its place in the future due to intrinsic advantages of Bitcoin over Gold.
It must be noted that the report did not include the wealth of countries that is not held on fiat like many oil-rich countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, this is due to the fact that most of their wealth are held in oil not fiat.
With Bitcoin prices and adoption on the rise it won’t be long before the monetary bases of several countries such as India, Switzerland, the U.K. and the United States.
