Bitpoint Restarting Trading Services


Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Bitpoint is restarting its trading operations after a $28 million hack in mid-July as well as will be refunding its 50,000 affected customers.


The exchange has re-opened its cash deposits and withdrawals as of August 6, 2019, after a safety assessment of the exchange’s cryptocurrency wallet.


It was revealed that the crypto wallet that has been hacked will no longer be used and thus will not anymore pose a threat to its trading operations.


Margin Trading, on the other hand, will restart operations on August 9, 201 and its Spot trading will open on August 13, 2019.


The Japanese exchange has revealed that the stolen crypto assets included 1,225 bitcoin, 1985 bitcoin cash, 11,169 ether, and 5,208 litecoin wherein $23 million worth of the stolen funds were customers funds.
