The U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange behemoth has recently seen trading volumes spike during the month of May with over 738,00 BTC or around $5.9 USD billion changed hands on its exchange platform.
According to data shared by Bitcoinity, May 2019 is the 6th most voluminous month it has seen seeing levels similar to March of 2018 when last year’s bear market was just starting.
The highest ever recorded trading volume for Coinbase was recorded in December 2017 when a total of over 1.2 million bitcoin traded hands.
This is not surprising since during that time the CEO of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, reveals that it was adding 50,000 users every day.
Armstrong however did not reveal how many new users the exchange was adding during the bear market of 2018, he however stated that real-world adoption was still rising.
