Cryptocurrency enthusiast and United States presidential campaigner John McAfee is releasing his own independent cryptocurrency, this was revealed on a twitter post last May 29.
The McAfee Freedom Coin is planned to be rolled out by fall of this year and has been reported to have the primary purpose of being a totally isolated and independent coin free from traditional currencies, assets and exchanges in an effort to reach the holy grail of cryptocurrency: economic freedom.
McAfee states that the coin is disconnected from fiat and crypto currencies, a coin that is zero cash-in value and zero value in relation to any other currency yet accepted universally.
There is no indication how the freedom coin would tie in with his run for president in 2020 which has been described as an attempt to promote cryptocurrencies as a means to securing personal freedom for citizens.
McAfee is currently living in the Bahamas following a purported indictment for tax evasion filed by the U.S. internal revenue service stemming from his alleged public confession that he has not filed his taxes in 8 years.
