Indian Blockchain Summit Aims To Speed Up Indian Crypto Regulations

Blockchain Summit India 2019 is a government supported event where participants of the said event are officials from the Indian Ministry of Finance as well as the task force that was selected to draft the regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.

The summit will be held on the 22th and 23rd of February and is supported by the Department of Science and Technology and the State Government of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the website of the event, the summit is targeted towards enabling Indian government and ministries to speed up the process of developing a flourished blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Currently, the Reserve Bank of India has imposed a baking ban on anything related to cryptocurrencies.

The central bank states that the new asset class carries additional risk to the investors as the space is not yet regulated. This is what the Ministry of Finance and a working group is trying to accomplish since last year.

Lightning Network Bitcoin App Lets Users Buy Pizza

Fold is a new crypto payments startup that has launched a web-based Domino’s portal that enable users to buy pizza using Bitcoins that ran through the lightning Network (LN).

According to its product lead, Will Reeves, their company is making Bitcoin fun to use again and wants to demonstrate that the digital asset is ready for the mainstream.

The company reveals that they are planning to integrate LN in all their shopping options in the next few months.

They are planning to support Starbucks, Whole Foods, Dunkin Donuts, Target and Uber.

It must be noted that there are no actual partnerships with the aforementioned companies, Fold just makes the transaction on their behalf exchanging the Bitcoin to fiat so that the establishments and companies will receive fiat.

Fold plans to release a mobile version of their application for Android and iOS soon.

The company is a seven-person startup which was incubated by venture studio Thesis and currently raising a series A funding round and looking to diversify its retail brand offerings.

Kaspersky Survery Reveals 700% Increase In Bitcoin Adoption

Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky Labs has recently release a study that states that there was significant increase of Bitcoin adoption.

According to the report, the number of merchants accepting Bitcoin payments worldwide has increase 7 folds in the past 6 years.

It also reveals that 13% of the world’s populations in urban areas have used cryptocurrencies in the past.

The firm’s business lead Vitaly Mzokov, commenting on the newly released survey states that despite the fall of cryptocurrency prices, there is still a strong desire for digital transactions amongst consumers.

While it is obvious that the new asset class has not yet reached mass adoption the global percentage of people using Bitcoin and other digital assets is growing steadily.

The survey was conducted by gathering responses from over 13,000 consumers located in 22 different countries.

However the survey also shows that Bitcoin is the least preferred method of payment as 81% of the respondents prefer using bank-issued debit or credit cards to make purchases online.

Blockchain Most Overrated Word In 2018

It has been reported that Blockchain is the most overrated word of 2018 betting out AI and Programmatic for the top spot.

The survey was conducted by MediaPost’s sister publication outfit Research Intelligencer.

According to the publication, the word blockchain have been given too much weight.

Interestingly enough the same survey ask the respondents to name the most important word or term of 2018 in which “transparency” came out as the most important.

For those who truly understand the very nature of the existence of blockchain they will find this ironic to the point of being comical for anyone with the slightest clue of what blockchain is.

The survery asked 120 marketers and 181 agency executives for their views on both the most important and the most overrated words of the last year.

31% of advertisers named blockchain as their number 1 choice while only 21% agency executives name blockchain as the top overrated word or term of last year.

Luxemberg Now Has A Blockchain Law

As a demonstration of the ever increasing popularity of blockchain technology around the world the European country Luxembourg has now a Blockchain Law.

The lawmakers of the country have passed bill 7363 that will facilitate the use of blockchain technology in financial services.

This was officially announced on February 14, 2019 by the country’s parliament, the Chamber of Deputies.

With the passage of the new bill, transactions done with blockchain technology will have the same legal status and protection as those done through traditional means.

The aim of the law is provide financial market participants with more transparency and legal certainty.

The bill is designed to make financial transaction more efficient and more cost effective by decreasing the number of intermediaries required in transactions.

Luxembourg is now one of the very first nation in the world that is able to give regulatory clarity regarding blockchain and its first applications cryptocurrencies.

This follows governments around the world that have come to acknowledge the power of blockchain technology and leverage it to improve governance and financial services.
