Tech giant IBM has recently filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for what it describes as a blockchain-enabled web browser patent.
According to the patent application it is a system that stores web browser events on a blockchain, the browser collects information during web browsing sessions and transfers them in a peer-to-peer network for on-chain storage of the in-browse events.
Data that can be stored in the blockchain can be the following: what websites were visited by the user, bookmarked websites, user searches, cookies, geolocation and record of browsing security patches among other things.
The integration of blockchain technology into internet browsers seems to be a growing trend nowadays as one of the top mainstream browsers, Opera, has recently released support for cryptocurrency wallet.
