Due to its extremely affordable electric prices cryptocurrency miners from China, Spain, Ukraine, Armenia and France are trooping into Iran to start crypto mining operations there.
Priced at $0.0006 per kilowatt-hour (KWh) Iran’s electricity is one of the lowest rates around the world.
According to a representative of an Iranian State-operated grid entity, Tavanir, the electrical consumption has spiked by 7% in comparison to the previous year blaming illicit cryptocurrency mining operations in the country.
It was revealed that there have been reports of over 100 mining illegal operations in the country especially on places where prices are heavily subsidized such as green horses and mosques.
