It has been widely known that Italy has always been in the forefront of technology and innovation, this can be said as well in the application of emerging technology like blockchain.
Now, an Italian blockchain start up wants to apply this technology to baby nutrition food with an immediate goal of ensuring at least 90% of the ingredients used in nutritional products for children by the end of the year.
This was made possible with the collaboration of Mipaaft and Plasmon which has been working together with research organization Crea to develop useful technologies for ensuring precision, traceability and food safety.
Such initiative can enhance the distinctiveness of Made in Italy products on the national market and abroad strengthening the competitiveness of baby food products of the country especially in the highly competitive international market.
This is not the first time an Italian startup explored the use case of blockchain technology in the food industry, earlier Carrefour developed a traceability programme which leverages the Ethereum’s EY Ops Chain Solid-food traceability platform.
