The long-awaited Bakkt platform will go live on September 23, 2019, and the market responded favorably as the wider cryptocurrency community sees it as a catalyst for more upside price movement.
Bakkt is the cryptocurrency exchange of the intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the same organization that operates the world’s largest stock exchange, the New York Stock Exchange.
It was originally planned to be released last year but regulatory compliance has been one of the main pain-points of the company which has led them to acquire several companies and a NY state’s BitLicense just to quell concerns by the U.S. CFTC.
Many applauded its impending release with pundits stating that unlike other futures exchanges, Bakkt is settled in Bitcoin, not fiat equivalent which results for better price discovery and liquidity for bitcoin.
