Walmart seem to be poised to challenge Amazon in the emerging home-delivery market, however for a company that have been reported to employ staff members who are not capable enough to direct shoppers to the right aisle, will customers trust them to enter their home.
The retail giant wants to launch refrigerator deliveries in Kansas City, Missouri, Pittsburgh and Vero Beach Florida, a move similar to what it did back in 2017 where it trialed the same initiative in Silicon Valley using Lyft drivers which turned out to be a disaster.
Despite this Walmart is going through its plan and reveals that it would only employ the most trusted people into this program and hopes to target 75% of American consumers by year-end.
According to a recent research 40% of U.S. consumers bought their groceries online over the past 12 months which is up around 10% from the previous year and is expected to increase further by 2.7% by the end of the year.
Only time will tell if Walmart’s in-home delivery service will be a success, at the end of the day competition will bring out the best of each competing companies hopefully consumers ultimately becomes the winner here.
