Stage 13 of the 2018 Vuelta a Espana was a 174km ride from Candas to La Camperona with Spanish rider Oscar Rodriguez of Euskadi-Murias climbing to his very first stage win of his professional career. He managed to ride clear in the final descent to win the stage by 19 seconds over Rafal Majka of Bora-Hansgrohe who came in second, closely followed by Dylan Teuns of BMC Racing Team.

We saw Quintana and Yates make their way closer to the Red Leaders Jersey holder of Herrada, which leaves things at an interesting point over the coming stages. The days first climb was the scene of a 32 man break away that included Rodriguez, where they managed to extend their lead to over 9 minutes during points of the stage. The lead was brought back to almost 6 minutes but the damage was done with the 32 man break riding to the finish.
Overall classification after stage Thirteen
Jesus Herrada holds onto the Red Leaders Jersey for another day but his lead has been cut by almost half to Simon Yates. Nairo Quintana moves into the top 3 a further 8 seconds behind Yates.
- Jesus Herrada (Spa) Cofidis, Solutions Credits 54 hours 50 minutes 19 seconds
- Simon Yates (GBr) Mitchelton-Scott at 1 minute 42 seconds
- Nairo Quintana (Col) Movistar Team at 1 minutes 50 seconds
