Stage Results and Next Stage Preview
Just when I think everything has finally settled and we have a clear overall race leader, we see another change and attack at the front of the Vuelta. Stage 15 of the 2018 Vuelta a Espana was another hilly 178km ride from Ribera del Arriba with the finish at Lagos de Covadonga. The fog rolled in and Thibaut Pinot and Groupama-FDJ rode to a solo finish to let the others in the general classification know he was not out of the race yet. Simon Yates was able to finish third to ensure he kept hold of the Red Leaders Jersey being edged out by Miguel Angel Lopez of Astana Pro Team by two seconds.

The day again started with multiple attacks from the start with a group of 12 riders making a break at the first climb of the day. Their lead extended over 5 minutes but they were brought back into the main peloton with still 60km to go in the day's stage. In the final section of the stage the final climb approached and Pinot made his move with 11km to go. A small group tried to make their way across but where unable to get close to Pinot as he made his first ever stage win of the Vuelta.
Overall classification after stage Fifteen
With Thibaut Pinot's stage victory, he was able to make a move up the leaders board into 7th overall, but is still a further 2 minutes behind leader Simon Yates. His third place in today's stage has given him an extra few seconds over the rest of the general classification.
- Simon Yates (GBr) Mitchelton-Scott at 64 hours 13 minutes 33 seconds
- Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Movistar Team at 26 seconds
- Nairo Quintana (Col) Movistar Team at 23 seconds
Tomorrow - Rest Day !!!
Tomorrow will be the riders second rest day for this years race and I am sure they will be looking forward to it after three tough days in the mountains. Stage 16 will then take riders on their second time trial stage for the 2018 Vuelta with a 32km sprint from Santillana Del Mar to Torrelavega.
