Games are my kryptonite and I've been actively looking for a replacement for Steem Monsters as Smonsters takes up too much of my time. In comes @drugwars, I would've played this on day 1 but unfortunately I was too busy/stressed with moving houses. It's been a really cool passive game that I only need to check into for a few times during the day now that I've set up a lot of things. And it rewards you everyday with Steem straight to your wallet!
Luckily it's headed up by @hightouch who is one of my favourite people on Steem! He was a big part of DTube when I started, and he has been a vital part of Funditoin and ongame. So I was comfortable in investing some Steem to get things going.
Here's a small report on some of the things I did in my first 3 days on Drug Wars.
Day 1 - Invest Invest Invest
The upgrading prices of the buildings were so low in steem at the start I couldn't say no. The fact that the game stocks up your drugs/weapons/alcohol without you needing to refresh the page is awesome. I continually upgraded my headquarters and put upgrading my drugs as priority as I could see some solid returns on it. I invested some drugs into the heist just to see how it worked, pretty cool way to get back some steem!
Battles were disabled so I didn't need to recruit any units. Guess I came in at the right time.
Day 2 - Learning The Game More
My steem upgrades were dwindling as the prices for drug upgrades were getting a bit out of hand. I did however spend triple figures to get my drug production over 250k a day. My theory being that I'll make the money back eventually but early on I could just use my resources now to upgrade everything and not spend anymore required steem.
I slowly learnt the differences between the 3 resources.
Drugs
You get a small percentage back in Steem everyday dependent on how many drugs you have produced vs the total amount everyone else has. You can also throw it into the "heist" that guarantees you some stem back (be careful of the dwindling price). You don't need drugs to produce units and rarely need a lot to upgrade your weapons/alcohol buildings.
Weapons
Quite important when you are upgrading buildings, drugs, and alcohol. Also you need a lot of weapons to recruit units.
Alcohol
Similar vain as Weapons but you need a lot more alcohol to recruit the gunman and super bouncer in units. I recommend focusing on upgrading buildings for now (as battles are disabled).
I also learnt about the capacities and how they work (not a big fan). Wish the safe amount was a lot higher for the capacity.
Day 3 - HODL Mode
The game really started to slow down now and I'm glad for it. A majority of the smaller building upgrades I used my resources and now I'm no longer using Steem to upgrade. As the resource requirements go up, I don't need to constantly check my phone anymore and normally can guesstimate when I'll hit the requirements. I've been slowly upgrading the pantheon as well, as I really feel that building is going to be something in the future.
I joined my first gang in @dwclowns as I dug their concept and I felt too pressured by other gangs to join them. I like picking a gang that seems laid back.
I'm now in hodl mode, doing the odd upgrades throughout the day but it's cool to get a consistent pay in steem and be part of something new in the steem blockchain. I'm also preparing for the announcement of battles again and hope to recruit a lot of units when the time comes.
Having great fun on this game!
