I am passenger of an amazing group here on Steemit called Ecotrain each week a question is proposed for us all to consider and answer.
This week 's is what our ideal society would be like?
We looked at what patriarchy and matriarchy are and how that effects us all as a human race today, we need to consider these terms to understand the system in which we live, there have been some very interesting articles and I have learnt a lot from reading everyone's point of view. I didn't get a chance to answer the previous questions so will touch upon that first.
I have been talking about this word Patriarchy with friends particularly around 2013/2014 the conclusion of all these conversations was unless you are male, white and straight you don't have a hope in hell in our modern word which is set up particularly for this group. At the time I was living in a dusty flat next to a main road just outside Oxford city center, in middle England. I had good friends who went to the famous university there, who were interesting counter culture types unlike the average joe / normative ones, who were next inline to inherit large trust funds and exclusive jobs. Working as a waitress in one of the biggest university towns with one of the top universities in the world , I would over hear some of the conversations from the students that horrified me, it was no surprise though how mindless their thought patterns were. Education is clearly just indoctrination, lots of young people in this situation are just sheep who follow in the foots steps of their brainwashed peers regurgitating clever dick answers they memorized out of a text book, of course they all ended up sounding the same. The exceptions are those individuals who decide to go against the grain, who are normally the types who don't or can't fit in to the normative categories.
Let not get it twisted, Patriarchy doesn't just benefit men, there are plenty of women who have benefited from this structure and enjoy it. There are many "successful" women today and even when we look back, one example is women of statue or high ranking (from families with or married into money) were above their male servants and most ordinary men in society. A lot of men also suffered in this system, think about men who spent their working days down in a dark coal mine, whilst the wife stayed at home made dinner and did the cleaning (I know which one i'd prefer out of the two scenarios). Therefore Patriarchal as we understand it isn't just a system that benefits only men, it clearly is a hierarchical structure that benefits the elite.
Not everyone naturally identifies with their sex and many women who may even look feminine, may internally have very masculine qualities and enjoy being powerful (I would argue that it isn't just because of the way we are educated, that we are more complex and have other factors that create these masculine qualities, which I will go into more detail shortly)
We know that in ancient Egyptian times women had just as much importance as men, we can say that it was matriarchal, lineage was traced through the mother, that on the whole women could be priests, pharaohs, owned property, were respected and was not just saved for the elite few. The society as a whole was working symbolically with mother nature, the stars etc.. There is also evidence to suggest that during the long time period of ancient Egypt there were patriarchal times too, this often depended on what star or planet they were worshiping or even both systems worked together. The structure of society seems to be directly connected to what was going on with the heavenly bodies, even if many people are living unaware of this type of connection in our modern society, that doesn't mean that this effect isn't going on.
The Sun is considered masculine but Capricorn is our patriarchal figure in western Astrology, I'm going by western Astrology right now although other forms of this system are valid, I choose this one as an example because it was what the ancient Egyptians were using or some ancient form of it.
Capricorn is the Father of the Zodiac ruled by the planet Saturn, this planet teaches to us the rules of the physical reality, the seven rings of Saturn are likened to our chakra system and it is these rings we pass through to enter into the physical world (root chakra) and rise out of it (crown chakra) the principle energy of Capricorn is a builder who gives people the tools to use. This is the ideal father, who has all the equipment to help you do what you need to do, is there to help you but let you find you own way. Like when you learn to ride a bike the stabilizers get taken off and your father holds the back of it and lets go so you will learn, you wobble and feel like you will fall but he is there to catch you. Eventually you learn without him and you have the ultimate freedom to ride off to wherever you like.
In contrast Cancer is our matriarchal energy, which is all about understanding and learning the world through feeling, it wants to create a safe and nurturing environment like that of the womb which it represents, ruled by the moon the planet most connected with the divine female energy, a water element giving life, cancer is also known as the great mother.

These two energies are meant to be opposites on the astrological wheel (dualistic principles) but wherever there are oppositions there are interchangeable qualities, energetically there are some uniting principles. This is what the sacred balance of life is all about, it is most clearly represented in the shape of the ying and yang and the detail of the points of each piece are crucial, this points and the worm holes, channels, intense forces that connect the other side to the other.

We need to be careful when we completely idealize one side over another. Yes patriarchy has been corrupted for now thousands of years, we have seen mostly its negative effects (it being transformed into an elitist system, where the truth is hidden from the masses - as I explained before this is not the truest purest sense of patriarch. But every energy has a shadow side even mother nature can be the cruelest and scariest force in our reality, it can turn on us when we think we are in a safe place and take everything away from us. And rightly so, look what we have done to her carving into her landscape and depleting her resources but she is more powerful, she will restore her balance in the most brutal ways, bring on the tsunami's, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, she will give it her all, even if that means goodbye all living beings!
Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to side with one energy or another, I just want to look the whole spectrum, but the point I'm getting to is that we need both energies.....
Cancer and Capricorn both represent the time of the solstices these are times of transition from rise to fall, from full to new, from death to life. As I said earlier both sides are interchangeable, when cancer is the peak of summer and Capricorn the depth of winter in the northern hemisphere, they swap over in the southern hemisphere but both are essentially the same, the beginning and the end, the door to life and the door to death (also known as the gates of alchemy). The solstices were particularly special occasions for the ancients as it was it marked the sun leaving and returning. But despite living in this world of dualism there's a whole spectrum of multi coloured light that also exists in-between.
The sickness we have experienced in our worldly paradigms is an imbalance of energies as we see in the ying and yang it is like a wave where one side is literally over flowing and the the other side has to correct it.... will we always be living in such a reality where one side takes over the over? (and often gets corrupted, its shadow qualities will start to over flow and devour the other half)? Maybe, yes maybe this is part of our human experience to live constantly in flux of these balancing energies, to struggle against something, I guess sometimes we need friction to call us to action.
Carl Yung also used astrology in his psycho therapy by looking at the archetypes given to us by the stars, these archetypes are passed down in our unconsciousness mind from our ancient selves, the star worshipers. Even Jung says that our creative selves can come out of our shadow...
if I'm going to take my own personal experience I would say I have learnt and been transformed a lot by some of my darkest moments and lets not live in denial we all have a shadow!
“There is no light without shadow and no psychic wholeness without imperfection.” C.G. Jung

I know some of you might be thinking that if everything was perfect and we were all born into loving nurturing safe environments we wouldn't be troubled people? I have no idea maybe its true..... but still there are many variations of human character that make us different and this goes back to my original point that our sex doesn't define the gender we identify with which can be and often is for many people a fluid thing as we all contain these different qualities. I do think some people are born with certain qualities (due to their astrological aspects) and it isn't all just environmental but the upbringing can determine how some of these qualities can manifest themselves, into shadow or light traits.
Up until recently I always thought matriarchy was the answer and yes we do need more feminine energy (to heal the planet and get in touch with nature, I'm 100 percent for that) but we also can't go back, as @eco-alex mentioned in his post about this topic, we are going into a digital age of automation and we are going to loose a lot of job postions. I'm wondering if this is really a scary and bad thing?

Eco minded people might think I'm crazy right now but hear me out, I think this is the Eco future where we as human beings can utilize technology in our favor to help heal our planet and ourselves. Why? well as more jobs become automated the more time humans will have to be our creative selves. when I first saw self service check outs in the supermarket I was horrified because that meant less jobs for people but now I'm glad because this is mindless work scanning items honestly if you ever done work like this, you start to feel brain dead and find it hard to communicate and I often encounter staff who are hardly awake, I've been one of those. As more and more jobs get taken over by machines, this means we as humans can spend our time doing stuff beneficial to our own mental and physical well-being, for example working in community gardens growing our own fruits and vegetables, instead of being fed by supermarkets. I see this example as an inevitability, and its already started people are learning the most basic human right: to feed themselves, it has to be done if we want to break away from the shackles of our current elitist system.

Why am I so positive that the technological advancements and changes are not going to be like the terminator or 1984? Well as you may have gathered I'm interested in the energetic heavenly bodies (the planets and stars) around us and the direct effect it has on us as a human race, I don't think its hippy mumbo jumbo stuff because as I've mentioned earlier many ancient civilized cultures were into it and the evidence suggests they had intelligent technology more powerful than we even know of today. Lets face it, we haven't crafted and built epic structures like the pyramids because we don't know how!

We are now moving into a new age away from the Piscean reality of what you believed into the Aquarian world of what we know, This is because of our movement in the universe is not static, every 26,000 years approximately is the great processional shift, and about every 2,160 years the sun moves into another new zodiacal constellation, that's why we are seeing such great changes and people are starting to wake up on mass, the dreamy world of neptunium illusions is being poured out of the Aquarian water pitcher, instead of drowning in these watery delusions, the water is being carried away (symbolizing the act of service) that we all must partake in, now is the time we need to carry the water to purify and heal the dry and barren landscapes of our suffering planet earth.

Although Aquarius is traditionally a masculine sign, it has been redefined in modern times and represents fluidity, Aquarius is all about expressing our individuality but as one equal larger organism (the collective), this is the age where we are breaking away from suppression so we can truly express ourselves for the rainbow of colors we are, we are not fully there yet but we are getting closer day by day. These are the times to find your tribe but I don't think that means we have to literally live with them in a community or clan, as Aquarius is all about new technology the internet is then an Aquarian concept where people are creating their own online digital clone and finding groups they identify with from all over the world. This rapid sharing of information is constantly jolting us into new higher levels of understanding about our reality (awakenings) what Uranus is all about 'the shock of the new', being able to redefine our future as collective groups is happening now in waves.
The breaking down of the elitist structures of society have been happening for a while now, I don't think there will be an over night revolution but we are living in these times for sure! What I would like to see is the rise of an Egalitarian structure of society. At the moment we are not all born equal, the chance you get in life all depends on where you are from, your race, your sex, your social class etc, so how can we change this?
Equality
Among the human race that also extends to other species, eradication of all enslavement and ownership over animals, they are not factory line food and a commodity. They also deserve the right to live as nature intended them to be on planet earth.
Sharing of wealth
there is more than enough in this world (reset global debt, stop plundering the earths resources, western countries need stop using and manipulating other countries for resources)
We need to learn to trade by real value and not with money
Clean Tech
We have the technology, its time to replace dirty energy with free and clean energy.
Automated services to replace undesirable work (I think this would remove classist behavior patterns and give humans more time)
Information
Shut down mass media (we are the news and news reporters, communities take control of how information is distributed be it globally on the internet or locally)
Education
Non government led, different learning techniques self learning, specialist schools, practical skills - like growing etc outdoors class times.
Education should be fun, practical, useful, empowering and safe not brainwashing camps
Food
Not buying into large corporations (which in my opinion would no longer exist in my ideal society) as I mentioned above everyone would have a shared responsibility in growing food, potentially food could be free (apart from your time and effort invested into it)
Medicine
Use of organic herbal medicines alongside modern methods, don't just treat symptoms but everyone learns to look after themselves holistically to aid prevention. Legalizing medicinal plants (Terrance Mckenna talks about how our hunter gatherer ancestors would have micro-dosed on magic mushrooms, as part of their diet, this meant they did not have the same family structures we know today, women would have given birth to children from multiple men and everyone was responsible for the up bringing of the children, these structures were matriarchal or Egalitarian)
Re-defining personal property
Modern Human being naturally want to own things (cell phone, ipad we need our own devices to stay organized and connected and EVERYONE would have one) so I'm not saying that personal property should be eradicated but needs to be reformed, we have a surplus in the world but many people are lacking.... I also think it is a human necessity to share as well as own but our current society makes things quite restrictive if you don't have money, a job and a physical home, this needs to change (particularly at a time when London is going to make homeless people and begging in the street illegal)
Integration
If we do all of the above then I think it is possible to get rid of all man made boarders on this planet the world as we know has been artificially split, in the past we would have been separated by rivers and mountains these were known as boundaries and if you wanted to in most cases you were free to cross them. whilst we continue to live en-caged by boarders and need a pass to leave and enter them we are still prisoners.
Law and Governing
Once we have boundaries instead of boarders and the freedom to move, we can decide which system we want to live in, maybe we will be defined by smaller regions, like Catalonia wanting to break away from Spain. I think we will see more of this happening in other parts of the world.
For me all of this is not about one term or another patriarchy vs matriarchy, because this is just another means to set one group against another, even if we idealize what the matriarch is, there are always going to be people who don't see the same point of view but no human can deny that there is something that unites us all that is the essence that we all have an awareness of the gift we are given (conscious and creative living). I'm imaging a future where we no longer need a label to define us, that we are no longer forced into deciding if we are one thing or another, a place we can develop who exactly we want to be, we alone can make that decision. All I ask is that we as human beings, as a whole, have the most equal chance at life to be able to self actualize who we want to be and not what someone else or our circumstances tell us to be.
Let me know your thoughts on this, I can't wait to get your feed back, comment below!
