Everyday I can feel the temperature rising, so the race is on for me to get my gardens all ready for the hot summer months. Most of my veg has been planted out and I have made real progress on my Hugel bed. I even planted some of my melons and pumpkins out in it and it felt good. I manged to get the compost and soil all in and covered in lovely leaf mulch.
But that is not really what I wanted to talk about, or more to the point show you all. Because as well as sorting out the hugel bed I was cutting some cane to make wooden cages for my tomatoes. There is a lot of cane growing on the land and I like to use what is available to me. I also got an awesome Japanese saw for my birthday from some friends, which I was super happy to use today, so all in all it was a very productive day.

Check out the saw isn't she a beauty?
Whilst I was cutting the cane I was able to get a quick look at how some of the grapevines where doing and I was very excited to see all the grapes that were starting to grow. I really do love this time of year and decided to walk around the land and take some shots of all the wonderful food that is growing and that me and my girls get to enjoy in the next few months.

I love that my girls can walk around the land and pick food for themselves. There are so many grape vines that even the dogs indulge themselves, which I know is not the best for them, but it is hard to keep them away from the grapes.

This beautiful fruit, is a baby avocado. I am super excited to see this as we eat a lot of avocados and I spotted lots growing on the two trees that we have. I can not wait for the late autumn when these will be ready to eat.

The pomegranates, another favorite of mine. We have to wait till September for them to be ready, but when they are we are literally swimming in them. This walk really reminded me how lucky I am to live on this land, that is so abundant and so giving.

I also saw that the olives have started to grow, it was not that long ago that the olive blossom was raining down on us, which made it look like it was snowing. I have about 6 liters of oil left from last years harvest, so I look forward to getting some more again at the end of the year.

The wonderful almonds, there are quiet a few almond trees on the land and I still have some left from last year. I love to make my own almond milk and almond butter.

I had to include a shot of the beautiful clover flowers. I loved to eat these flowers when I was a child and they are such a wonderful sight to see. Soon it will get very dry on the land and these flowers will die back. But for now they are growing wild in a few spots on the land and I find myself automatically picking one up and eating it.
