Welcome to another weekly Curation from the amazing Passengers of the EcoTrain.
Spring is in the air here in the Northern Hemisphere, all of life is bursting forwards. It is so so nice to see the leaves again on the trees and the welcome sound of the bees return.
Today I have picked one post from each of those passengers, who continue to write under the EcoTrain tag. This week is all about nature and nurture. Nurturing ourselves and our natural environment. Celebrating nature and the magic she brings into our lives. As usual we have something to suit everyone, from natural medicine to permaculture to ancestral beliefs. The winner's of The International Forest Day Challenge have been announced in @eco-alex's post below and believe me there has been so many awesome entries. Thank you so much Alex for inspiring us to share our passion for the trees.
It is our goal within the EcoTrain to make the world a better place and we are all very passionate about doing just that, which is reflected in the content we create. So sit back, enjoy and remember to show your support by upvoting, following and resteeming the content that you enjoy and lets all work towards making the world a better place together!
WELCOME!

Life is A Battle - Time to Get Back to an Even Keel...
We all have bad days, months, even years, but as long as there is one other human being that listens be it online or face to face, it becomes a bit bearable.
This month has been such a battle.
There was an incidence of bad parenting on my part that has resulted in lots of social services involvement that is a nightmare, but at the same time I have to see it as helpful too (and also my fault).
One of my daughters is very angry and cannot control this anger and there seems little I can do to curb it or keep it under control, other than weather the storm.

We won the International Day of Forests Teachers' Contest | Congratulations @mr-greens!

It's a big win for us as our Founder/Executive Director, @mr-greens won the International Day of Forests Teachers' Contests.
The contest received 104 entries from Teachers from over 40 Countries around the globe but @mr-greens contribution in connecting young people to nature was outstanding and this explains why he became winner of the prestigious international award.
Congratulations @mr-greens and keep doing what you do best: paint the world green!

The Importance of Good Neighbors in a Permaculture Ecosystem
About two weeks ago we had around 10 people to our homestead to help with a very important task - the task of turning trees into woodchips!
Wood chipping Party at Mountain Jewel!
There never seem to be enough wood chips around the homestead. We use them for so many things- chief among them being mulch. With all of the trees we're planting (and putting cardboard and mulch down around to suppress weeds, retain moisture and encouraging microbes and mycelium), we need a lot of it!

A Glimer of Love & Hope Beneath The Forest Canopy
The forest will answer you in the way you call to it. ~ Finnish proverb
The Japanese have a word that describes those deep intuitive feelings that flow through us as we enter a forest.
They call it Yugen. One only needs to step into a forest to awaken what we've always known. The forest, the humans, all life is connected.
On days when the heart is heavy, confused, aching, we can run to the woods and shed our burden like leaves in Autumn. When we forget ourselves we can quietly walk, finding ourselves again amidst the twinkle of light through the canopy.

On Soothing The Anxious Beast, and Whether That's Possible At All.
If you've ever experienced heightened anxiety, I know you will likely empathise with how I felt on Sunday when I was in the midst of the worst panic and anxiety I've had in months. I'd felt it simmering beneath the surface, a trembling thing, a chemical reaction about to fire and bubble volcanically to the surface. However, I'd ignored it largely because life was generally pretty good on top of that feeling. I say generally good because I've been brain training myself to look between the apparently 'bad' things, and I have lots of those in my life. A beautiful home. A beautiful, loving husband. A stable job and a steady income. I live in a beautiful part of the world.

Now Is The Time To Bring More Balance Into Our Lives
Today is the Spring Equinox, when both night and day are equal. It is a festival of balance, both within the physical world and within ourselves. Today we focus on the balance between the dark and the light, the dynamic energy of the sun and the receptive energy of the moon.
It is the time to look inwards and focus on bringing balance into our own lives. We are a reflection of the natural world and when we surrender to that natural flow, then we open ourselves up to new understanding and healing.
I have often spoke of the power that lies in acknowledging the teachings of the earth. Of embracing the natural desires and emotions that come with the changing of the seasons, the cycle of the moon.

A Challenge to Promote International Day of the Forests.
Though perhaps we've been looking at it through the wrong lense... EVERYDAY should be a celebration of the Forests. Do they not act as the lungs of planet Earth?
I understand breathing is something we do without thinking and that everyday we are alive, most of us forget to be greatfull for not having to think about it. Next time you're conscious of your own breath, maybe you can thank yourself for having a working auto pilot?
While you're at it, you may as well thank all the trees for giving us an important piece of what we need to breathe properly!!!

It's again one of those days...
The wind has slowly been working its way up to becoming a dangerous storm. This time it's not the kind of wind I want to be caught up in, like so many here are. This time it's paired with a nasty, cold rain and it's catching underneath the roof as if its plan is to rip it off the house completely. I can hear the doors of the shed banging, the crap lock has broken off the doors again, but it's no use to go outside to even try to prevent the doors from slamming. Trying this could possibly end badly. It wouldn't be the first time the wind slams the doors shut with me in between them. Or worse: open, while I'm trying to half-fix the lock. I think some bolts are in order. A few months ago, the wind caught one of the doors and ripped it clean off its hinges. Something I'm not trying to repeat this time around.

March 2019 My Garden Journal Entry
It’s Spring!
We are a ways away from spring blossoms but I forced some bulbs to enjoy indoors.
The nasty winter weather has finally broke and we are getting some warm spring days, quickly melting the snow.
The animals (our dog Bruno and cat JJ) are enjoying getting outside and the birds are becoming more active as you can hear in the video below.
The dripping you hear in the video is the sound of me catching the melting snow off the roof in buckets.
One of the first chores I’ll be doing outside is pruning the trees that were damaged by the early heavy snow fall

Ancestral Coded Beliefs - Do they really hold any meaning?
When I was a child I always used to get a lot of instructions from my elders. Don't do this, Don't do that and sometimes I used to wonder what could possibly be the reason. On questioning them most of the time the answers were it brings bad luck and I believed it and that's how my conditioning was happening. Fear of God, Fear of doing things or not doing things, Fear of Punishment. There was no reasoning. The reasons were only these like It's against religion, God gets angry or it brings Bad Luck.
I am sure a lot of you may have also experienced this, specially in the Indian tradition. Many Do's and Many Don'ts, like do not cut nails after 07:00 P.M., do not sweep the floor at home at night, do not wear black on auspicious days, If we do not pray God will punish us.

So as im sure you all agree, its definately not about winning on this one. Just taking the time to read and sit with our posts has in itself been a gift. You have all shared so much wisdom and beautiful thoughts and images, so thank you all, i had no idea so many of us were so passionate about our forests, yay!

When Self Care Also Cares for Mother Earth - Literally. #earthdeeds
It's hard to believe that improving the Mother Earth's depleted soils can (and arguably should) start with a luxurious, fragrant foot bath, but there it is. To be more particular, it is a Magnesium foot bath: Magnesium Sulfate (yes, common garden-variety epsom salt) together with a few drops of STUNNING hand-distilled Juniper essential oil from friends in Crete - more about THAT another day in another @naturalmedicine post.
I use a whole handful of Magnesium Sulfate for my half-filled basin of hot water and positively HOARD the water when I'm done - yup - complete with dead skin cells etc. Why? I'm soooo mindful that ALL our health stems from soil. Good soil. Without it our food is depleted and reduced in nutrients, our health suffers and we are simply not able to participate, contribute, thrive nor, ultimately, to survive.
