Friends of Steemit, how are you? Today I'm going to show you a fan art that I did quite a lot, but I still like it a lot. Hahahahah is a fan art of the movie Coraline and the secret door (I think it's my favorite movie from the studio Laika).

The story focuses on Coraline, a girl who moved with her family to a house called "The Pink Palace" where other very extravagant characters live, but very important in history. From the first moment Coraline rejected the idea of moving and also since they moved she got bored in her new home, so for being snooping around she finds a mysterious very small door, thanks to this door many things will happen to Coraline.

For this film I will obviously give the best score jajajjaaj plus it is a great adaptation of the book (I read the book because I wanted to compare them), but both the animation, the story and the characters are spectacular (obviusly is a film from the studio Laika ). The range of colors that it handles also I love, blue and violet tones to show mystery and intrigue. It's a children's movie, but I remember that when I saw it (I was 10 years old) it scared me a bit with the antagonist of the story, that I love its design, it's very grotesque.

Design of the drawing:

As the main character of the drawing is Coraline and I wanted to do it with an expression of concern and sadness for what happens to her in the film; with a cat in her arms, because this helps Coraline to beat the other mother; from behind Coraline arms come out with a thread and a button, this makes reference to the other mother, since she wants to sew buttons to Coraline's eyes. I drew Coraline that clothes because it is a sueter that gives the other mother to her and because it is the set that Coraline uses that I like the most in the whole movie.

Step by step:

As always I do the pencil sketch in my super cute sketchbook.

Then I take a picture and I pass it to the program I use to digitize (Paint Tool Sai) and start doing the line art, with a brush tool modified to my liking.

My favorite part is the hair hahahaha in this case the hair is blue for the original design of the character and with brown eyes. I paint it first by putting a base color and then adding shadows and lights with a modified marker tool to my liking, but I do not blur it.

The main character is of a light skin tone, but the arms that come out of Coraline's back are those of the other mother, that the design of her when it becomes all grotesque the skin tone is like grisaceo. Here to paint I put a base color and shade with the marker tool and then blend with a pindel water tool.

The design of the clothes is one that the character uses during the film and it is one of my favorites that I use, and I color the clothes as well as the skin. The white spots on the sweater were made with a special brush and with a layer in lighting.

I made the background with a light blue spiral to refer to the tunnel that Coraline has to cross when she wants to go to the next world.
