The depression storms had affected many people living by the coast in the south of Thailand. My friend in Rayong told me that the weather was bad and the waves were very strong. In Nongkhai, the sky has been laden with thick clouds for three days.
So, there were no colourful sunsets and the river scenery became quite melancholy. Luckily during Sunday afternoon, the sun came out and suddenly the sky became bright blue! My enthusiasm and energy bounced back to my usual routine so we decided to plant the remaining eight trees in the garden. It would take some time for me to plant a small woods or forest in my garden.
The unplanted area has been left alone for the grass to grow which is very beneficial to some of my neighbours. One villager came to cut grasses for his four cows. His house is quite far away and it is not possible for him to bring his cows here. He drives his tuk-tuk to my garden with his cutting motor; he just gathers the grasses onto his vehicle twice a day. This arrangement works out very well for us: he gets the green grasses for his cows and I could save time and money on keeping the land tidy.
วันอาทิตย์เป็นวันที่สามที่ไม่มีภาพพระอาทิตย์ตกดินสวยๆให้ชม แต่โชคดีที่ตอนสายมีแดดเพราะพระอาทิตย์ออกมาจากเมฆ พายุที่เข้าทางภาคใต้ทำให้อากาศแปรปรวนไปทั่ว เพื่อนที่ระยองบอกว่าคลื่นลมแรงมาก ขนาดคลื่นขึ้นมาถึงสนามที่หน้าบ้านทีเดียว พอแดดออกเราก็มีแรงกระตุ้นให้ไปปลูกต้นไม้ที่เอามาจากกรุงเทพฯอีกแปดต้น ที่เราพึ่งเอามาใหม่ เราคิดว่าคงต้องใช้เวลาพอสมควรในการค่อยๆหาต้นไม้มาปลูกป่าขนาดย่อมบนที่ของเรา ตอนนี้ก็ปล่อยพื้นที่ว่างให้หญ้าขึ้นตามธรรมชาติไปก่อน
ชาวบ้านที่มีวัวหลายตัวแต่ไม่มีที่ต้อนวัวไปกินหญ้า ก็มาขอตัดหญ้าไปเลี้ยงวัว บ้านเขาอยู่ไกลเกินไปที่จะพาวัวเดินมากินหญ้าที่นี่ ทุกวันเขาจะขับรถตุ๊กตุ๊กมาที่นี่ แล้วตัดหญ้าเอาใส่หลังรถ ขนไปให้วัวกินที่บ้าน เขาจะมาวันละสองเที่ยว ซึ่งเป็นประโยชน์กับเราด้วย ทางเราไม่ต้องเสียเวลาและเสียเงินเพื่อจ้างรถมาตัดหญ้า ถ้าที่ไม่รกรุงรังก็จะไม่มีงูตัวใหญ่ๆมาอาศัยและหากินหนูนา เราก็ค่อยๆหาต้นไม้มาปลูกให้เหมือนป่าละเมาะที่มีต้นไม้ยืนต้นและต้นไม้ที่มีผลไว้กินในอนาคต
