My friend Annie has got a friend visiting from Thailand. She suggested that we all go out and have a meal, and she can introduce her friend to us.
Meson La Mezquita being one of her favourite local restaurants, we ended up there. Her first choice was the Tandoori restaurant, but her friend does not like Indian food. She doesn’t like the smell of Indian spices. Anyhow, so we all ended up at the Meson la Mezquita.
There were five of us. There was Annie and her two friends, Nee visiting from Thailand, Shenya from Russian, who is now residing in Benalmadena. Then there is Roger and I. As usual, we were the early birds and the restaurant was just beginning to open up for business when we arrived. Early birds get to have their pick of tables. We settled for our favourite table, one in the alley way under an orange tree.
It’s funny how if you like something, you keep going back to it – whether it is food or places. There are so many other eateries within walking distances, but we are not keen to try them all. A foodie will want to try them all and compare them. We are just happy to have a place where we like, and the food is good, to go to.
Annie’s friend Nee is a bit younger, and according to Annie she is a party girl. Her three days’ visit worn Annie out. Nee speaks with an Thai accent, and has trouble with some English and Spanish words. Something simple can come out rude, and that was cause for a lot of laughter that evening. Anyway, it was good to be out, have a meal with friends, and some laughter.
Nee and Shenya had the Gambas Pil Pil – prawns in olive oil and garlic. This seems to be very popular with the ladies.
Annie had her favourite dish Pollo Relleno - chicken stuffed with dates, bacon and cheese serve in a curry sauce with rice.
I like the Pollo Relleno too, but was determined to try something new. So I had the Cordon Bleu of loin, parma ham and cheese, with salad and chips. It was very nice.
Roger had Goulash Ternera - veal stew which he assured me was very good. It looked good.
Good food, good company and laughter... We all had a good evening.
